Happy Medicare!

My baby brother turns a certain age today.   Doesn't seem right that he is THAT old.

This is his Grand Jordan putting a clothespin on his fingers last summer.  An art project was being worked on at the Wildlife Refuge during a Children's program.
Here he is with a finished art project!   He has his scruffy no shave Northwoods look going on. (Sometimes he is less that thrilled with me and my camera...imagine that)

Happy Birthday baby brother...welcome to Medicare where it takes six months to see anything from Medicare and your healthcare coverage. I guess they figure you have all the time in the world to wait for paperwork since you are a certain age.

  1. I am thankful that many who have no one to help them have Medicare, but I have found that it pays only pennies on the dollar. My Blue Cross used to pay good when I still worked, but looking at what Medicare pays my doctors makes me uneasy.

  2. I began Medicare this month. I currently pay $15 per month to cover my one prescription that cost me $3 per month pre-medicare. So we'll see how the rest of it works. Happy birthday to your brother.

  6. Happy Birthday to your brother! I was worried about you this morning as I got up and there was no post out there from you....whew! So glad all is okay! I laughed last night as I was watching the news and they were in front of the White House and there were robins hopping all over the White House lawn photo bombing the news caster! LOL! Enjoy the birthday celebration!

  7. Happy Birthday to your baby brother. Medicare would be good, then Dennis could retire. I’m what is holding him up.
    Blessings,

  9. Yes, I had the people call to quiz me about my health insurance. I think it was just a memory test to see if I knew what was going on with it all. They really didn’t tell me to change anything. That certain age now seems so far away for me.

  11. My husband who carried our insurance retired from his union job at 60. We now pay double for the same coverage that covers about 25% of the costs. We do not have any "well care" which means we pay out of pocket for lab work, x-rays, medical tests, flu shots, even an appointment to get my prescriptions renewed. It does provide some coverage on prescriptions and major medical for surgeries so we are just waiting five years to visit the doctor or have tests done until we get Medicare to help with office visit costs. Even pennies on the dollar would be a help at this point.
