This year I am looking forward to:
Maddie’s Wedding in July
A few trips that may or may not happen;
Searching for Native Orchids in Central and Northern Minnesota.
Going someplace warm in the winter.
I found out the dates that The Tall Ships would be in Duluth Minnesota. So I booked a motel room. I have always wanted to go…and never found a motel with openings as they fill up really fast. It is a waterfront motel so I (we) can watch the ships all day…admire the rose gardens…walk to supper at Grandmas…visit all the waterfront shops. In essence “be all touristy” not far from home.
Sounds like a fun time.

ReplyDeleteThe tall ships will be wonderful to see. I like the antique store that was down there but it may not be there anymore. Just hanging around the harbor is a wonderful experience. Weddings are always fun.

ReplyDeleteI adore that picture, Connie! Weddings are such a delight... and so are pictures of proposals. That backdrop is wonderful!! I love "vacations close to home". It's been quite a few years since we stayed at the bed-and-breakfast in the next town over (12 miles away) but we always enjoy it. You don't have to find a "babysitter" for Chance anymore and we don't have to find a "babysitter" for Mistletoe anymore either. That makes getting away just a tad bit easier, doesn't it. But we still miss them... everyday! I had a twinge in my heart (of sadness) as the clock struck midnight on New Year's Day. I thought of "leaving Mistletoe behind" in 2018 and me moving forward to 2019. Even though his ashes are on the hutch, I still felt like I was leaving him behind somehow. Ah well.... such as it is. ReplyDeleteThose are perfect "forwards". I got to go see wild orchids the summer before past. In the northern blue mountains. I was love at first sight. Would like to go on another trip. You have to know someone who has the knowledge. I hope to see your photos. May post mine now that I'm reminded.

Lovely! I ran the Grandma's marathon once many years ago...I liked Duluth a lot though we didn't do anything other than run the race. Someday I'll go back up there to do the tourist stuff. Enjoy your big ships!

ReplyDeleteI just learned from watching an old Swedish movie called "The Immigrants" that Duluth was the port on the Great Lakes for immigrants coming from New York to Minnesota in the mid 1800's.It is obviously historic. History is cool!

ReplyDeleteI remember the tall ships from many years ago. When I was a kid we would go up and stay at a resort of log cabins on the lake. Back then the water was piped directly from the lake and was the best water ever.
