A rooster with no name.
Rock Stars
Twins
I heard roosters crowing, sheep baaing, and piglets squealing.
The fair has only been on for two days…yet that old chicken house brought back many smelly memories. Perhaps the smell is in the walls…we were happy to see the chicken house open this year…it has been closed for several years because of the bird flu. We enjoyed seeing all the different kinds of chickens.
There was a rabbit there that would have gone at least 30 pounds and made a heck of a dinner. There were all kind of rabbits; long floppy ears, ears that stood up, spots and no spots…white, black, grey, brown and evey combination of those colors.
Three little pigs were having a war over the water dispenser. Two little pigs in the next stall were flinging a feed pan upside down and on top of each other. Those pigs had quite an audience of watchers…they were very entertaining.
Nothing better than an evening spent at the County Fair.
Fairs are in full swing here now, our favorite is coming up in August.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you about time a the fair. Love to see the variety. Glad to hear the chicken house was open. Have you ever entered anything in the fair?
ReplyDeleteYes I was in 4 H !! :)
DeleteI agree - one of the best events of the summer, the county fair. I don't like the state fair, though. Too much of a good thing I guess. So many of my kids' memories revolve around 4-H and the fair.
ReplyDeleteI smiled at the rock stars, but swooned at the twins. Adorable! :-)
ReplyDeleteI love the fair!
ReplyDeleteLinda
I always loved to visit the animal buildings when I went to any fair. Thanks for the peek!! :)
ReplyDeleteYes, I'll never forget the hen house smell. It was my job to gather eggs and feed the chickens.
ReplyDeleteThat unnamed rooster is a beauty!!
ReplyDeleteWe used to take the kids to the fair every year. Now we avoid crowds, at least I do. DH will sometimes go with one of his brothers.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like so much fun! You managed to share your very pleasant evening, thanks!
ReplyDeleteTwo more weeks before the County fair.
ReplyDeleteYou're right, there nothing like the county fair. That rooster looks just like our Big Boy rooster. I don't guess he left here and went to the fair.
ReplyDeleteOur (Fillmore) starts next week and it's always fun though now I look for entry's from the children of my former students....:)
ReplyDeleteI always love seeing the animals at the fair.
ReplyDeleteMy two older brothers showed cows and pigs at the county fair. It was a really small thing in southern Iowa. The rare times I went to the state fair was such a fun thing to do.
ReplyDeleteI love to go see the animals...my favorite along with the Fair food. Did you have a funnel cake? It's been years....I love them!
