Time for a bit of fun. Thanksgiving is over. I will have a Thanksgiving report soon…maybe tomorrow.
If you would like to be entered into the 2014 Ornament Giveaway then take a guess at what we carved.
Here are the hints.
The ornament has six pieces. They are carved from Yellow Popple…my new favorite carving wood and a popsicle stick. The six pieces are glued and pinned together to form the ornament.
One part is green.
Guess away…that is all the hints for now.
If you want to be included in the giveaway then leave me a comment with your guess or for those of you who are shy shoot me an email. My email address can be found in my profile.
I have two ornaments all set to be mailed out. I will draw two lucky winners on Wednesday December 3rd at 9PM so you have till then to comment with your best guess!
An Elf ?
ReplyDeleteJust got to be a Sunflower! :)
ReplyDeleteBeing from MN, my guess will be a Ladyslipper.
ReplyDeleteI am not shy, but I have no idea, but here is my guess. I think it will be a flower, ladyslipper? I think that is how you spell it.
ReplyDeleteSince it's Christmas, maybe a poinsettia?
ReplyDeleteI say a Lady Slipper. Hope you had a nice Thanksgiving.
ReplyDeleteA Christmas tree.
ReplyDeleteHmmm. Knowing you, it would be something yellow. How about a sunflower? :-)
ReplyDeleteA pine tree on skis? LOL
ReplyDeleteMy guess is also a lady slipper, one of my favorite flowers. So special that you do this contest.
ReplyDeleteHow about a pointsetta
ReplyDeleteBefore I read the green part, I was thinking a snowflake but am guessing it is some sort of flower, too. You do love Lady Slipper but I don't know if that is it. You will probably give it a Christmas theme though so am not sure if it would be a summer flower. That green does look like a leaf but could be something else, too . . . .
ReplyDeleteI am guessing a sunflower.
ReplyDeleteWell I would guess a Lady Slipper, but those longish parts in the first photo would seem like leaves, and you have the rounder ones painted green, so not too sure.
ReplyDeletea bird---Turkey or Peacock!Linda

From my email Bonnie L guessed a poinsettia
ReplyDeleteFrom my email Alvina M guessed Lady slipper
ReplyDeleteI think it is a poinsettia.
ReplyDeleteSix pieces? A popsicle stick, two leaves, the little round thing and two other ?????? pieces?
ReplyDeleteI'm clueless...guess I won't be a guesser...
But I sure like the color of those leaves. Can't wait to see the finished product. It looks great already!
Afternoon, I think a Poinsetta also. Francine.
ReplyDeleteA lily!
ReplyDeleteA Lily of the Valley - a favorite flower.
ReplyDeleteHow fun! I'm guessing a daffodil! Thank you for having the drawing!
ReplyDeleteThis one is difficult! But it must be some kind of a flower. When you tell us, we will all say - "Of Course!"
ReplyDeleteSandy B.
Some kind of flower was my first thought, like everyone else. My very first thought was lady slipper because I know how much you love them, but you guys already worked on lady slipper carving and might not want to do lots more. The popsicle sticks remind me of candles. Honestly, I'm at a loss...but I'll stick wth Lady Slipper because of how many parts. ;)
ReplyDeleteI am going to go with sunflower, too. You seem to like them a lot. Bye the bye, congratulations on having 4 of your pictures in the utility calendar. Some beautiful pictures there, especially the sunflowers.
ReplyDeleteSix pieces and a stick.....green...I'm stumped. A flower of some kind.
ReplyDeleteFrom email: Hi,my guess would be a Lady Slipper. Have a great day! Barb B

ReplyDeleteI think a ladyslipper flower
You have a lot of guesses for Sunflower, but that would be my guess, too, haha. Have a blessed Sunday. ♥
ReplyDeleteAt first I thought it was some type of ladyslipper/orchid but the green painted parts keeping throwing me off. Is the part attached to the end of the popsicle stick considered one of the six pieces? Hmmmmmm. Then again, it could be a pinwheel for all I know. I'm sure you're having a good laugh at all of our guesses. Can't wait to see the finished photo. Joan W.
ReplyDeleteI reckon a sunflower.
ReplyDeleteI don't really know but am going to guess poinsettia
ReplyDeletePoinsettia
ReplyDeleteYes, put me in the draw and my guess is 80! The harder you work the more fun you have From RED
ReplyDeleteFrom LD I hope I get into the drawing but don't feel very lucky at this time of the day. I hope you warmed up a little bit today. We made it to just above freezing for a couple of hours.
ReplyDeleteI am thinking it is plant related but maybe it is a lotus flower.
DeletePoinsettia, as I am unfamliar with the lady slipper.
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas!
I'm going to guess Peacock... I just don't see Ladyslipper in there!
ReplyDeleteFrom MJM Those leaves remind me of milkweed in a way. But that can't be it, can it?
ReplyDeleteLady sllipper. Can't wait to see it.
ReplyDeleteEarly on, I was certain it was the Minnesota State Flower, Ladyslipper, upon further reflection, I thought it was a poinsettia... but now again am back again to guess Ladyslipper!
ReplyDeleteGuessing has closed and I will announce the winner Thursday December 4
