October To Do List

Welcome October.  The days just keep going one after the other.  The S word has been spoken on the nightly weather for the weekend…disgusting.

I raked and mulched.  I was filthy…I am certain only the whites of my eyes were white.

It is only the first go round.  The leaves are about 80 % down.

The window guy was here…to replace a window that was cloudy and another one that I inadvertently threw a rock into with the lawn mower.   Far Guy found a guard that I can put up in front of the window…it is the second time I have broken that window.  Hopefully it is the last time. Shiny Brites

We found these tucked in the door the other day.  They are from Far Guy’s Cousin Tom and Linda.  More Shiny Brites for my collection!  It was a nice surprise!

I suppose it it time to put this colorful flag away and get out the one with the pumpkins.

October List:

Finish raking and mulching

Put away lawn decorations and lawn furniture

Change the flags

Wash windows

Finish cleaning patio pavers IF there is a warm sunny spell again

Put up the snowstick ( I have encouraged Red and Larry to put up snowsticks too! Anyone else that is game please join in!!)

Flu Shot

Teeth Cleaning and Dental Checkup

Well that will do for a start.

  1. Fall is barely here and already you are busy, busy. Sure hope the weather people are wrong about your weekend prediction. I really need to start mulching our leaves. been putting it off because we have been getting a heavy morning dew that doesn't seem to dry off until late in the day when I am ready for my nap.

  2. So organized already for early October. I still need to get my flu shot as well. Wash windows? Ugh....I tend to ignore that, and I've heard there is a great group here in town that does windows pretty inexpensively. And in Texas we don't have to worry about the snow stick.

  3. I'm working on my list, too. I think I was overly ambitious to get things done, and then felt overwhelmed by it and didn't do much of anything. I did get my flu shot- the four strain..I haven't skipped the shot in over 25 years. Have a great day!

  4. I don't have to worry about the snow stick, either. I can't say I'm looking forward to all the cold rain we'll be subjected to and long dreary nights. :-)

  5. I just can't believe your leaves have fallen already and you are raking. You reminded me of something. A man used to stop on his way home from work to see mama and daddy. He drove a bulldozer. Mama would say, he was so dirty you couldn't see anything but the whites of his eyes. :)

  9. Our leaves have yet to fall...I so dread it. Two houses and two yards. Sigh!

  10. What a sweet thing to leave on your doorstep. I love spontaneous gifts like this.

Getting ready for winter here, too. Coiled the hoses and put away the patio furniture last weekend.mi just need the leaves to fall. I'd say 80% remain on the trees as of today. Sigh!

  11. Larry will be putting up a snow stick to represent the middle earth of Iowa. I hope it scares the S away. I do have a prize thought of already.I now have a kitchen drain that drains with gusto. Taking that off my list. I am leaving the old cast iron one along side of it to be taunted by the new plastic modern one. It is so great to get things off the list. We are foggy and misting a little but I may go scrape on the house this afternoon. I have yard wast to burn and that is a go for us all of October. I have piles to get rid of from all year. I like the loon flag but I know pumpkins have to get their time in the daylight. More shiny brites, what a deal!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  12. You forgot "take a nice nap!" A list would help me. I'm a very random chaotic kind of person.

  13. Your leaves are 80% down? Ours have barely even started changing color! Summer is way too long down here for my taste. I have the ac on ...STILL! But supposedly that will change tonight. I love your picture of Chance and the scarecrow. Looks like a good list to me although I don't rake.

  15. Yup, we have a lot of the same things on our list. No snow stick, though. I've heard El Nino is back and we'll have a mild winter here.

  16. I am missing fall at home. I have seen some pretty trees on our travels, so I know it is coming.
Your list reminded me of several things I need to do!
