The Leaf River

The Leaf River near Wadena Minnesota is overflowing and making Leaf Lake.

As you can see it is starting to take over half of one lane on this two lane road.  This is evidence of all the rain we have had this summer.

Here you can see that the fence line is in water.

Everyone has either made hay or is making in…looks to be a good year for hay as in some places they are baling the ditches.

We went to the Flea Market near Wadena.  We got our exercise walking around.  I bought a Bobbsey Twins Book…not sure why…it was $2…that may be why… it was worth rescuing.

  1. So I guess "making hay while the sun shines" means first you need a good rain.

  2. All our rivers are flowing at capacity around here also. I can't believe you bought a Bobbsey Twins book. They were my favorite books when I was growing up. Oh what memories.

  3. I would have rescued the book, too.

  4. It's been rather strange weather, hasn't it? We are dry as a bone and you are flooded. :-)

  6. I have great memories of reading the Bobbsey Twins books, my escape back on the farm in Illinois.

  7. Wow - it changed quite a bit since Saturday evening when it was just barely up to the edge of the road. Flea Market sounds fun!

  9. Looks like there are some ditches that they won't be able to bale though! Maybe all that rain you have had will make for a good second cut?

  10. Looks like a lot of rain. The lake looks inviting though. Or is it too cold for swimming?

  12. You have had a lot of rain when rivers get up that high. We have a Wadena Saskatchewan. I'll bet some old guy came from Wadena Minnesota and brought the name.

  13. That is a lot of rain! Seems like we are either in desperate need of rain or near flood stage. What happened to the days of a normal rain and then a few sunny days. :) I love a flea market!

  15. Wish you could bottle up some of that rain and send it our way in a couple months, when all our harvest work is done :)

  18. Oh, I loved The Bobbey Twins books. I read them when I was little. Which one did you get? I only have one that I got at a sale. I know it has been rainy and cool here this summer but perfect for me down here but I know it's been rough throughout the midwest.
