HELLO! It’s just me, the handsomest blogging Border Collie in all of Minnesota..perhaps even the Midwest! Far Side says “be humble Chance” ..okay..the upper Midwest.
We checked out this lake.
What kind of a name is Wauboose anyway? The Minnesota DNR spells it Waboose. As you can see on the sign..it is Wauboose unless the sign maker made a mistake. Someone is obviously in error..the State ( say it ain’t so) or the sign maker.
Stuff like that drives Far Side nuts..she wanted to write to the State and say what's up? Cantcha spell? She decided it doesn’t really matter and after six months or so she will forget all about it…maybe.
Wauboose Lake is fairy shallow it only reaches a depth of about 14 feet. Being that shallow it can freeze solid and winterkill all the fish..it has not done that for a long time according to the DNR.
Far Side sent out the alarm about the beaver. She hollered “Beaver zone, better watch out Chance!” I didn’t see a beaver..I did see a chippy..so I chased him up a tree.
I had a very nice swim..and now the car smells like a lake:)
Sorry, about the car smelling like lake. My opinion, the whole world, needs a few old nun's teaching spelling and grammer" Facebook is a real eye opener. You are right, a lot of people just don't care.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful day out for you. Beautiful country.
ReplyDeleteAH, I love the fragrance of wet dog! Looks like a great place for a swim, no matter how you spell it!
ReplyDeleteCute post. A wonderful day out near a pretty lake. Have a good day.
ReplyDeleteChance, I saw what that beaver did, it was no chipmunk that did it! So I'm glad you got to swim and enjoy yourself. Your mom is one of my special people, but YOU? You're just the best! :-)
ReplyDeleteWell Chance, the most handsome dog in Minnesota, ya gotta come back from the lake smellin' like it or you've just not had enough fun!!!
ReplyDeleteNext, we need to work on that 'self~confidence' of yours!!! Heeehehehehe..........
Oh how we love you Chance. :o)
Have a fun and frisky day filled with all the bones your handsome heart desires.
God bless that Far Side, she's quite the gal!
Thanks Chance for taking us with you today...it is always a treat.
ReplyDeleteChance, not just the midwest, probably the whole country!
ReplyDeleteWhat was the temperature of the water when you were swimming? Didn't you wear a wet suit?
Thanks for the post Chance...nice to hear from you...Tell Far Side there is a park sign near us that reads
ReplyDelete"open 8 am to 9 am" ... at least they are open for an hour...
Yes Chance they do need to spell words on public signs correctly. That lake has the beautiful colors that I like to paint to depict Minnesota water. That subtle blue with a hint of pink is a really great gradual color change. Take car Chance and do watch out for the sharp teethed creatures.

ReplyDeleteI think lakes smell great.
ReplyDeleteWell, clean lakes, anyway.
I often wonder what's in a name. Especially the strange ones. :)
AHHHH! Lake smell! I love LAKE SMELLL! Boomer doesn't understand a swim in the lake or river but I do! 5 Thumbs up, Chance!

I would be getting away from the tree now..Beautiful lake. Don't they smell when they get wet in the lake.
ReplyDeleteWell, Chance, I think you are the most handsomest Border Collie in the USA.
ReplyDeleteWaboose is an odd word, my friend Mr. Google (another odd word) tells me it is an indian word, Objibway indian as a matter of fact meaning "Rabbit".
Perhaps the lake is Rabbit shaped? or the found lots of rabbits there? Did you see any rabbits?
Tucker here and I do think you are a most handsome guy, for a Border Collie. I think our humans just don't appreciate that Eau de Wet Dog smell - hmmpph! They are missing something. It's strange though... they can hardly smell a thing; not the deer that tracked through the yard, or the fear that floats on the air from an animal in jeopardy... and then they have the nerve to complain about how we smell?!
ReplyDeleteHey Far Guy doesn't need to fix his chain saw, just hire the local beavers! Chance, do you chase the beavers? or do they chase you? I'm getting ready to paint our big farm sign for the highway/driveway, I hope I spell everything right - I don't spell well - but the "mis-spelling" of our farm name was on purpose. I'm propably messing with a few budding spellers' heads - oh well, at least all the letters face the right way.
