Second Snow

Last night it got cold enough to snow. This morning the ground is white..barely.  This is our second snow.  The third snow is the one that usually stays for the winter at least that is the old wives tale I go by.

See hardly enough to even consider a decent snow..I hear that people south of us got a foot of the glorious white stuff..I am really happy for them.  Perhaps this La Whateveryoucallit is a good thing and our part of Minnesota will be spared all winter with the storm tracks going south of us. I know I am a dreamer.

IMG_9120 It is going to be one of those grey days..I guess I should drag out my snow boots and my parka. ( Insert walking to the gallows music here.)

Goodbye crocs, goodbye crocs with wool socks, goodbye hooded sweatshirts, goodbye Capris and T’s, goodbye lawn mowing, goodbye flies, goodbye butterflies and bees, goodbye birds singing in the trees, goodbye ticks, goodbye snakes, goodbye sunny days sitting near a lake, goodbye flowers, goodbye weeds, goodbye warm weather, goodbye to green and  goodbye to brown,  goodbye to all these things I love except of course the weeds, bees, ticks and snakes:)

  1. But only goodbye to them for a season or two, Connie! They WILL be back. I love seeing Chance just laying down in the snow like it wasn't there. :-)

  2. La Nina! We are supposed to get a worse than normal winter this year due to La Nina.
I'm wearing my crocs as 'house shoes'. Easy to slip into when I pull my rubber boots off, and I can dash outside in them in a hurry if I need to.

  3. So sad the many good-byes. Your were the first person I thought of this morning when I saw the snow in the news. This sounds like a good time to take a walk with Chance that will make you feel better.

  7. I really do NOT like putting away my Tevas and going barefoot. However, I can do a close second when inside. I wear Isotoner ballet slippers - - - even at work. The black satin look very nice with black pants. I don't miss the HOT of summer but I do miss the spring and autumn weather. We are cooling off again this week - - - only in the sixties during the day but still in the thirties at night.

  8. Yes La Nina. Sigh..... I rather enjoyed last year, no snow to speak of, no frost to speak of....a really GOOD winter.

Well, I guess this is our last winter on the coast. From what I understand snow stays after Halloween up country. I had better get used to a white winter, just like you have all the time.

  11. too early for snow. I read from your profile that you are a horticulturist. Have you heard of the PSA disease that is affecting our kiwi fruits?

  12. I agree with you Connie; good bye to all the wonderful weather of Spring, Summer and Fall. I hope La Nina pushes all the snow south of us to like - Chicago, as I do NOT like cold and snow. Hang in there and keep warm.

  13. Oh noooooo, I don't like white snow (or any other snow for that matter!)

If they could only figure out how to get the stuff to only fall in the woods and lawns and avoid the streets and parking lots!

  16. Hi! I came over from your other blog that was the featured "blog of note". The photos are really fun and interesting, but this site is great too. We haven't had the "white stuff" just yet, but it's coming!

  19. Ya know, I'd trade a bit of your snow for the slugs that find their way into my house. And you wouldn't even have to take my slugs really, your snow and cold would just kill 'em, and it would also cover up all the work I still seem to find to do in the winter when everyone else is having fun putting on parkas and knocking snow off their boots and.....
