That snow that we got the other day is still here. It was not a bad dream or a figment of my imagination.
And guess what..it was so fluffy and light that it settled. It even snowed a little more..perhaps that was the culprit..it was a heavy snow.
This snow on top of the very thin ice that was on the lakes makes a nearby lake look safe..when it is not.
The thin ice is just disguised by the snow. We have not had enough below zero ice making weather to make the ice strong enough for people or vehicles yet. Shell Lake yesterday, November 27, 2010.
I like this lake the best in the spring..Shell Lake in May 2010.
May is still six months away. I guess the snow will be here for awhile. I would like to hibernate like an old bear..what a great feeling it must be to hunker down for the winter and sleep till spring:)
Great pics. I dont envy you the snow. We dont usually get snow till Dec. If we are lucky Jan. I am so not looking forward to it. It is pretty to look at if you can indeed hiberate. Blessing. Lady Jane
ReplyDeleteYou could just come to GA and visit with us til Spring!
ReplyDeleteBrrr. We've returned to much mud here. With crunchy edges in the morning. I do miss the light the most, especially on the thick cloudy days when it never seems to be light at all. I think it is why I use so many white twinky lights in my house. Lamps just don't do the trick, I need an all over glow. I could try and make you feel better by telling you that at least you have pretty white bright snow to reflect what sun and moon light you get.
ReplyDeleteI guess it's all what you are used to, or maybe you never get used to it? I don't know that I could live in an area that is snowed in for so long. But then people that come here probably wonder how we can stand the rain and grey skies:)
ReplyDeleteI lived in Michigan for many years, and I remember that first snowfall stuck around until the Spring Thaw that invariably happened in January. Then the snow started all over again and wasn't really all gone for a long time. The snow is so beautiful when it first falls, then when it turns grey and dirty, not so much. Great pictures, Connie.
ReplyDeleteI like the pictures, too, even if they make me a bit cold to look at them. Hibernation sounds like a good idea to me right now - - - - I could use a nap.
ReplyDelete- - - and you are one who doesn't have to dream about a white Christmas because you know it will be there. It is gorgeous - - - I remember those Christmases in upstate NY until I was about 21 - - - but I don't miss it.
Those pictures gave me chills!! I'm not ready for snow...nope, not ready at all!
ReplyDeleteThe sad part is winter is just beginning.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos as always and love the new header ! I am waitng for snow for different land to photograph ! Have a great day !
ReplyDeleteI could do without the snow this year....usually we rely on it for runoff but with all the rain this summer we don't really need much. Our ice froze with snow in it and it's awful shelly and not quite safe enough to drive on yet,
ReplyDeleteThe snow is beautiful! Love your pictures!
ReplyDeleteI think we have had enough moisture this year already. Don't need any snow. If I don't see another drop of rain or any snow this year that will be just fine by me. Yes, it is pretty to look at, just don't like having to drive a car in it or shovel it. Gotta love your "snow gauge"!
ReplyDeleteI love the pic of the snow although ya know I am not a fan of the white stuff. I just came in from uppin' the woodpile and it's rainin' but there is a spit of frozen sleet in the mix. Six months 'till may, ya say???? Heeehehehe!!!
ReplyDeleteGod bless and have a great week hunkerin' down!
And I complain... you and Linda really do have snow...me I just have lots of wind.

We had ice on our ponds and today a lot of it just melted away. Still no snow but I am not worried. Probably tomorrow.
ReplyDeletewhere does that water go... ???
ReplyDeleteSnow on ice - dangerous! We have the same conditions over here but as yet, the only person to go out on the ice and through it is naughty Oscar! Luckily it was shallow and he made it back to shore OK...
