In any other family, Cats would mean kittens..not so if you grew up with a Dad that ran Heavy Equipment all of his life. Or if your other baby brother from the time he was three wanted to be just like his Dad and move dirt. Somehow it must have been passed down through the genes so that my other baby brother’s only son has this dirt fever too…and his son Mason has it too..at the ripe old age of six it is quite evident. Their blood must be part diesel fuel.
My Brother, My Father and My Nephew
My other baby brother who lives next door wanted some three generation photos taken. He owns his own Construction Company. Yesterday they were all three working at the same job. Far Guy and I drove out there early in the morning, the sun was just coming up.
My Dad loves to work for my other baby brother. My other baby brother moved from Wyoming to buy his own business. Needless to say he handles all the snow removal all winter long on the driveway that we share! He employs a number of young men who have families..so we are always happy when he has an abundance of work.
My Dad started working for a Construction Company before he was married. He was a truck driver. After some bad farming years due to grasshoppers and the weather he went back into construction to feed his family. He has been a “Cat Operator” for just about fifty years.
Here goes my Dad off into the sunrise..off to another day of work:)
Boys and their toys, and I WAS expecting cute kitties! Congratulations to your Dad on his near 50 years of Cat work :-) It must be in the blood! Jo
ReplyDeleteLove the photos ! Its wonderful to know there are still family owned and operated companies out there and that it has been going on through each generation ! Hubby works for a family owned and operated steel company near a small town that are also farmers that has been passed down through 4 generations, they really do treat their employees like one of the family rather then just a number like most companies now adays ! Have a great day !
ReplyDeleteFamilies stuck together with the glue of hard work! Great photos. Thanks for sharing them.
ReplyDeleteStong men there, for sure. Going back I was really impressed with your Leech Lake pictures and history lesson. I didn't know about that battle at all, but to be honest Minnesota History is not one of my strong points. :)
ReplyDeleteThis is really cool, Connie! Terry says his blood is dyed green and dirt runs the rest of his body!

MEOW! Those are some big cats!
ReplyDeleteOur families are very similar, Connie. We are three generations living beside and working together. That's not the norm these days, but I feel blessed to be surrounded by family.
Well it took me a minute to figure out what kind of cat you were talking about. LOL duh. What nice photos and to pass down the next generation of 'cat operators'. It's good to meet the family on their 'cats'. How neat is that that your brother lives next door. Have a blessed day Connie.
ReplyDeleteOooh I love big equipment! We all do. How positively thrilling it must be to have a whole family of big machine operators! Hot diggity dog! That would be the ultimate. I kid you not, there is nothing better than the smell of big equipment diesel fuel rubbed in dirt! My dad delivered fuel, and going with him on a job site delivery, well it ran neck and neck constantly for first place right along with delivering to the carnies for the amuzement rides.
ReplyDeleteGreat post -- love the pictures - what a great group of guys!
ReplyDeleteI so understand your language. Anything like the tractors, dozers, loaders, combines and trucks we have 'round the Ponderosa. Oh yeah, I forgot about the road grater that was purchased last year. Boys and their toys!!!
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderfully blessed day sweetie!!!
My SIL operates heavy equipment and after so many years is in demand because of his experience. These are great pictures of the boys and the cats.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was young on the farm my dad hired a guy to come in with his cat to make a pond. I thought I was really special that when he parked his cat at night I could go see it. It is a wonderful machine. Your three guys work in dirt with pleasure.
ReplyDeleteThank's for taking the pictures Sis
ReplyDeleteThe Duke and Duchess both come from a long line of CAT's :) So we ALL enjoyed your post!
ReplyDeleteKisses for Chance,
Emma Rose
wonderful pictures of 3 generations one day someone will look back and really appreciate those.
ReplyDeletehave a blessed tomorrow
What wonderful photos - love those CATs in action.
ReplyDeleteHope all is well as I haven't seen you around lately. Take care!
These pics turned out great! Jody, your Dad and Josh will cherish them.
ReplyDeleteLove the photos. Our little boy was obsessed with earth moving equipment -- and trains -- when he was kid. Whew. Have you seen this "You-Tube" video?

They aren't "Cats" but it is wonderful.
Those look like some great guys to have around.
ReplyDeleteThey would be real handy whenever you needed some help with heavy work.
My brother worked for years at the Caterpillar plant in Peoria building those big tractors. They are awesome machines to see in action.
I was going to say "boys and their toys" but the first commenter beat me to it! Isn't it wonderful when people love their jobs? And it's great they enjoy doing this work together. You got some good photos of them.
ReplyDeleteConnie, I love these shots, especially the glint of morning sunrise on the blades. You did a great job of taking them. Real personality coming though, strong, capable men!
