Marge Grass

We have a beautiful grass out in the wildflower/weedy area.  It was a gift from Marge, Far Guys Godmother.  She was and still is a heck of a gardener.  She has hit a rough patch the past couple of months..and one day she said to me “Don’t go talking about me on that blog of yours.” Now there is a very fine line between talking and writing about someone.

So I won’t say how every year on February 15 the phone rings and it is Marge remembering her Godson’s birthday.

I won’t say how she shared some of her very invasive grass or how she smiled when it left her yard.

We planted it out on a mound of soil..and we enjoy it all winter long..I have no idea what this grass is called and you know what I don’t care…we call it Marge Grass:)

  1. This grass is gorgeous! I love it when I see it growing here and there by our lake. I won't tell Marge you've been writing about her... ;-)

  2. Pretty, and I have a little bit of that grass too. Got it down by Steph's, but had to buy it! Have a great day! Did Gene enjoy the game?

  8. Of COURSE it is Marge Grass. I think it is the correct entomology even. Great shots, Connie. I love the last one especially.

  9. I have a "Sue" grass that's similar with a story that goes with it much the same.

  10. How very beautiful, and made even more so by the gorgeous shades of russet your grass has turned. She sounds like a very special lady, and a great gardener.

  12. Sounds like a wonderful lady!

I, too, have that habit. I have a Grover Plum, a Daddy Grape, a Mom Sedum and it goes on. The joy is not only in the plant but the story behind them.

  13. It is beautiful. We have something similar called Pampas Grass. We love it. We have several other ornamental grasses to. Zebra Grass and Japanese Blood Grass are a couple that come to mind. We love the look of grasses and have much better luck with them than flowers. :) No green thumbs here!

  15. Emma Rose said what I was going to - - about the Pampas Grass. It looks beautiful and if a person has space for it, it makes a nice picture. Are the leaves sharp? - - - like you need to be careful handing them or the edges can cut your finger?

  17. Invasive is the word but it is beautiful. We see it in ditches in different places where it has taken over the entire area. I call it plume grass and that probably is not the right name either.
