Christmas 2009: Part Two

More about Christmas 2009...

Noah
Game playing..there was lots of it..some on the computer..individually and as teams ..but we did gather them all for a rousing game of "spoons". They are all a pretty competitive bunch..so it got a little physical..it also was a source of many giggles...I love games ..so I thought it was just perfect.

Adam
Hugs for suckers..I have been having an issue with Adam..withholding hugs..and I just grab him and hug him and kiss him..he is the baby after all.. well my Tootsie Pop Jar is accessible now only after a hug..I have Adams currency..finally!

Paige
One liners.. Paige observing her Grandpa .." I can't believe it..you actually do have a pair of jeans without holes in them!"

Madison
My beautiful ten foot tall tree for upstairs..it holds my Shiny Brite ornament collection.. I think it was guilt..I told Far Guy one day that if I croaked before I actually got to see all my decorations on a really tall tree that it would be all his fault. He does what he can to make my life memorable. It is a pretty large tree too..so I can keep going to garage sales and antique shops..looking for more Shiny Brites. I think I will make it a tradition to decorate it with all the old ornaments each year..and then wait for the grands to come to decorate it with the new to me old ornaments that I have collected during the year.

Gifts received, everyone seemed pleased no one bawled because they were sad. I admit it I had two gifts from Jen and Andy and the boys that made me bawl..you see Jen is the best gift giver picker outer ever. It is a skill she did not get from me. The first gift I will leave you guess at for another day..or two. The second tear bringer was a book I had as a child..The Bobbsey Twins at the Seashore. It was a very thoughtful gift..I am reading it..it evokes lots of childhood memories. Now lets guess what gift could make me bawl..to the point of almost sobbing? No, It wasn't a Sheltie Puppy..they teased me that they had one in their vehicle for me..I told them if they had one outside they just better be bringing it in before it got too cold. Nope it wasn't a live gift..but it was a gift that I unwittingly helped to create..that's enough hints for now.

I had a six hour nap on Christmas Day..after everyone left..I crashed on the couch..I was exhausted. Far Guy and Chance had a nap too..Chance is pouting..he wanted everyone to stay forever:)

  2. Those are lovely Christmas memories. Hugs from the grands are pretty special..get them however you can. I feel really lucky - my grands are a huggy bunch- even my 15 year old grandson still gives them to me whenever he sees me. Nothing makes me happier.
I was a Bobbsey Twins and Nancy Drew fan growing up. Those names sure go a long way back. Your book really was a special and thoughtful gift.

  3. Wow, what a great gift! I can't imagine what the other one is. When I was a young girl I was addicted to Little Lulu comic books -- I wonder what ever happened to them all! I remember them with such fondness. Like your Bobbsey Twins, I suspect.

  4. Spoons is a lot of fun with eight or more people. Our games got physical, too, with some blood being spilled. I haven't played it in years.

  5. Great post Far Side. Jeans without holes? LOL. Love your new book and cannot wait to find out what the other gift was. We have not posted since Christmas because the Duchess also took a very long nap when everyone left.

Kisses for Chance - poor lonely boy!

  11. Sounds almost like the "Waltons", you must have had the most wonderful times. What great memories for your grands.

I read all of the Bobsey Twins books when I was a kid, what a great idea to reread them again.

    Hugs, Jen

  14. I'm so happy ya'll had great Christmas fun. We had ours Saturday then Sunday I had a Sunday School class filled with pre-teens and Kids Church to do. All I wanted to do yesterday afternoon was curl up with my blankie in front of the fireplace with a good movie. Ahhhhh! I needed that.

I had the Bobbsey Twin books growing up. Wow, I hadn't thought of them in years.

Have a great day and a wonderful New Year!

    God bless!!!!

  15. I would like to get my hands on Trixie Belden series. Those were my "take me away" books when a kid.

I love Christmas trees -- But, I don't like to take them down. I hate putting Christmas away. So much that I think I have a bit of a hang up about it.
