Here in the city Up North there are still a few very golden trees hanging onto their leaves. In the neighboring big city residents can pile leaves up next to the street and the city comes by with a huge leaf sucker upper and gets rid of them! How perfect is that!
Back at home the Tamaracks or Larch have turned into a golden glow.
Far Guy had his second radiation treatment. He had to wait quite a long time because one radiation delivery machine was not available..they have two...so that makes everyone wait. Far Guy is not such a good waiting person anymore. I dropped him off at the door because parking is just the most miserable thing around the Cancer Center...I parked a block away and waited for him to text me when he was done. I read my book for book club while I waited.
I hear that the S word is being mentioned for the weekend...the weather is turning to Winter just like that!
I am still not happy with the Falling Back...it makes me tired and cranky.
Far Side
I am grumpy and unhappy about time change. Takes me a couple to three weeks to get used to it. Throw in a full moon also and sleep is hard to come by. RHill, TX
ReplyDeleteSnow is forecast here for Sunday, but only in little bits and spurts I guess.
ReplyDeleteRadiation. Uffdah. It will feel like forever until the treatments are done.
I've heard of cities with leaf vacuums but have never seen one in person nor lived in a place that had one. I try to mulch mine a bit for the nutrients they provide the lawn if the weather cooperates. If not, they just blow onto someone else's property who does something with them if they care too. I've never seen any of the downwind properties in my neighborhood do anything with leaves other than what I do and further south is woods so I suppose that is where a lot of them end up.
ReplyDeleteThe time change always throws me for a loop. Add in getting up two hours early to work the polls for fifteen hours yesterday and I think it might take until Christmas to figure out what time it is!
ReplyDeleteSorry about the machine down. I can imagine how frustrating that is! Keeping you both in my prayers.
Praying for healing where needed and sparing of the lungs! So glad you have family in the city to love on and support you both. Still in the 70’s where I live so very hard to imagine the S word! Lol
ReplyDeleteI am delighted with the falling back! We still have some color.
ReplyDeleteI don't blame him for not wanting to wait. First of all at our ages, we know our time is limited and don't want to waste it in a waiting room. Second, I have heard radiation treatments can make people feel weak and tired as treatments accumulate so sitting there is an additional strain on the body. Third, you have a longer time to be exposed to any germs. FG also has other health issues that makes his health more fragile. Do they let people wait outside in the car and text them when the time is closer? We have a walk-in clinic that does that in our area. I would advocate for it. Your husband had a very difficult last winter regarding his health and you don't want to repeat it for sure. He is a walking miracle and poster child for the resilience and strength of mankind.
ReplyDeleteshucks on having to wait on the machine. I'm with FG...little patience. at least you were able to catch up on your reading.. I can only assume that the S stands for snow ? Winter is upon you all.. 81 degrees here today
ReplyDeleteNo snow!! I don't like how short fall has been shortened to this year. Love the golden trees! I would be impatient also- I remember going with my mom to her chemo and radiation treatments. She was so patient, and I tried to be, but it was tough. Hope you have a great rest of the week.
ReplyDeletemy "Mister" is a terrible, and noisy waiter. I can't tell you the number of times he has walked out of places in a huff because the lines are too long! the advent of our first snow always made me excited! Not so much the 3rd, 4th, 5th, etc!

ReplyDeletewaiting for medical procedures is very stressful.
I am tired and cranky, too! Snow I can deal with...
ReplyDeleteWe are a leave the leaves kind of family - we clean them off the concrete/walking surfaces, but leave them everywhere else. The amount of fireflies we had this summer was amazing! It really does make a difference
ReplyDeleteFalling back is hard on the entire body and it also does something to the brain. You can just say “fall back” and an image of landing on your butt comes in play.
ReplyDeleteCount down on the treatments. FG will cross the finish line. Glad you had a book to read.
Terry has no patience anymore either. I think it's because he is like FarGuy and loves to go FAST!!!! Waiting is not fast
ReplyDeleteI love your golden photo.
ReplyDeleteI have to work at being patient these days. maybe because nobody is paying me to be patient anymore.
Snow already??
ReplyDeleteWaiting in clinics or hospitals is always a strain.
ReplyDeleteSnow! Hadn't heard that. As long as it is here for Christmas I am happy. But I do like winter.
I don't like the time changes in either spring or fall. They bother me more now when I am older than they ever did when I was younger.
I don't blame Far Guy for his impatience. It seems disrespectful to make him wait. If they knew beforehand the second machine wasn't available they ought to have called and asked him to come later.
ReplyDeleteMy daughter says there is that horrible S word expected tomorrow. It won't last but still not wanted.
I've seen those leaf suckers before and they work GREAT! Wish we would have had them where we lived. Here in the condo we don't have to worry about them anymore though and THAT is a blessing.
ReplyDeleteSorry about Far Guy's wait. That is so frustrating. I hope it's the last time that happens. They took the snow out of the forecast for us this week but it is supposed to be 19F tomorrow night before warming to the 60's again. I'll take it for November weather.
Blessings,
Betsy
I am definitely tired and cranky too, not a good thing with my girls coming over all day tomorrow. I saw on the news that it's even supposed to get into the 40's way down here in SW Florida on Tuesday!
ReplyDeleteI sure hope you're wrong about the S word...because we have to travel to Minnesota starting Monday. Sure hope it holds off for a while yet. Lord have Mercy. Sorry far guy had to wait for his treatment.....not fun when you would rather not be there anyway. Blessings to you both.
ReplyDeleteThere was a huge pile of leaves in the corner of the parking lot at the park this morning. I wonder if the city has a leaf sucker-upper or if it will be loaded manually. I covet those leaves for compost but am too lazy to go out there and bag some to take home. The spirit is willing but the flesh is weak (and old).
