Spring Bloomers

 Spring is here ...finally.

The Marsh Marigolds/Cowslips are finally blooming.  They bloom for a long time!

We went for a trail ride...saw some Spring Ephemerals...plants that bloom briefly sometimes only a day.

Round Lobed Hepatica or Anemone americana it can be any color from Violet to Pink to White.  The hairy stalk and six petals help to identify it right now as the leaves are still hidden in the leaf litter.

Pretty little flowers to begin Spring here in Minnesota!

We enjoyed our trail ride and had lunch of crackers and cheese out on the trail.

  1. Lilacs are starting to bloom here along with the Flowering Crab Trees. And what a mess the trees are making. Petals and buds everywhere. Also my Bleeding Hearts are in full bloom. Hallelujah, Spring is here.

  3. Wow, you are weeks behind us, but considering the snow you had I guess it is about right.

We still have pinks and the hepatica are fading. I found some marsh marigold yesterday in the spring and they looked beautiful.

  7. The Trail Riders is your new name. It is so nice the weather is better and spring flowers are playing catch up. I am not familiar with the wild flower you are sharing. It is wonderful.

  12. I have always wondered what the names of those little flowers that grow in the forest are. We see them when we hunt mushrooms in the spring.

  15. My Aunt (age 87) and I went for a walk in the woods last Saturday looking for hepatica but it's long gone here. Saw spring beauty and trillium and Jack in the pulpit tho. Blog coming.

  16. Such a great trail ride to see spring makes it's appearance. My bleeding hearts finally began blooming today. Finally. I'm still coughing and have no voice so I'm not going out and about at all. I double mask to give Mom her insulin shot every night and then come right home. I'm tired of it and hoping it's still just a cold and not going into my chest. No fun. :-(
    Blessings,
    Betsy
