Wistful Wednesday : Graduations

55 years ago Far Guy’s sister graduated from High School.

1963 Jan Graduation from High School

Jan Class of 1963

Ran onto a relative at the cemetery (a non dead relative) who said “It will be Jannie’s birthday soon, wish her a happy birthday!”   We related the well wishes to her as she turned 73 this week…she said “That part of the family always called me Jannie.”

50 years ago on May 29, 1968  Far Guy Graduated from High School.  Note the same table and lamp in both photos.  Cousin Tom’s photo is on the table, he graduated the same year from Detroit Lakes Minnesota.

The plans for his 50th Class Reunion are still in the works.  I don’t get involved.  He has women calling him all the time.  Seems like he is the ring leader and is the only one that really knows what is going on.

  2. I hope he has a great reunion! Mine will be down in Fridley, Minnesota. I won't make it because I can't travel anymore, but I always had a good time at them. :)

  3. Every class needs one person like Far Guy to keep things going. Love seeing the background of these pictures, eg. the so 50s/60s drapes with contrasting valance.

  4. I'm not sure I could even find a photo of me at Graduation! LOL, I don't think my husband will go to another reunion.

  5. Next year will be my 50th class reunion. I doubt anyone in my tiny class (10 grads) will organize a reunion.

  6. It’s my 40th class reunion this year but since it’s back in Iowa and I am in Washington State, I doubt if I’ll be able to go. Love the graduation pictures of Far Guy and his sister. Where does the time go?

  7. Fun to see the old photos. I don't think my gown had such full sleeves! I saw mention that a few graduating years were going to share (late, in my case) a 40th reunion. I highly doubt I will go, since I haven't been to any others, and after graduation everyone went their separate ways, and I didn't keep in touch with anyone for long. Bit of a loner, I am!

  8. My 50th is next year. Don't know how it happened so fast.
We just got a notice that our sixth grade teacher died - - - at 100 years old! Took us down memory lane though remembering her. She was phenomenal - - - - one of those tough teachers who expected you to learn - - and you did!

  9. Look at the tall pines (maybe Norway Pines?) in the view out the window on Jan's photo! Bet they are not there now. Great photos and proud graduates.

    1. No those pines were taken out by the tornado a few years ago, it has been replanted into seedlings. :)

  11. Good memories from from an earlier time. Great that Far Guy will put effort into making a reunion happen. So I'm bragging but I finished high school 61 years ago.

  13. My Richard was always in charge of his high school class reunions. That meant I got lots of office type work to do for him. Good memories. I graduated in 1969!

  15. Those were the days! I had my 50th reunion last year but of course I didn't go....I was too afraid of the shocked look on their faces if they saw me now! It could give someone a heart attack! LOL!
