Jennifer was a Sophomore in High School and Trica was in her second year at Moorhead State University. We had quite a menagerie of animals…a goat, horses, rabbits, cats and dogs.
Me with Captain and Moses, Jennifer with Misty and G’Day Mate, Far Guy, Trica with Caramel. We had at least one other cat named Shadow and possibly one called Snowballs Chance in Hell…Snowball or Snowy for short. (We were his hospice home for two years.)
The tree was a little short that year…I think it might have been a fake tree…as I was tired of pine pitch and needles and a fire hazard in the house.
Back then we were both on the Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department and on Boards at Church, we were so busy. Sometimes I wonder how we did it all, but we were younger then!
I am not sure who took this photo, it was most likely taken the day after Christmas…
That's quite a lapful of dogs, and I love the way the fourth dog is looking at the new cat.
ReplyDeleteNO! Kelly gave Caramel to Trica!!!!!
ReplyDeleteYou are correct and I have edited the blog post!
DeleteGreat picture, and yes that is a whole lotta furry family! :-)
ReplyDeleteChristmas is a wonderful time to look back at the stages in your life. Memories. Mery December
ReplyDeleteI agree, I have no idea how I made it through those years....more like a blur. Lovely picture. I commuted one summer as a consultant from Rockford, IL into Chicago and I was up about 4:00 a.m. each morning and didn't get home until 9:00 p.m....I lost that whole summer! Being in computers was like being a doctor but without the money. LOL! I can relate to Far Guy's picture....he looks tired....I know I was. Lovely family photo and too funny about the boyfriend cats!
ReplyDeleteI often look back and wonder how I did so many things. I don't think it's so much that we were younger back then but we are so much older now!!!
ReplyDeleteI have 'heard' you mention the resort before. Was it just rooming or did you all cook, too? Will you write about it or show us the view sometime or maybe you did before I started reading. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteIt was a fishing resort, and no I did not cook! here is a link for your enjoyment.

I read it and it was really interesting. You and your husband have always been very hard workers from what I gather when reading your posts. It is unusual to get tornadoes in your area, isn't it?
DeleteI am sure you must have loved being on the lake in the summer. Did people ice fish in the winter, too?
No we get some tornadoes in the summer. Yes people Ice Fish all winter but the resort was closed for the winter.
DeleteI love how photographs capture so many details and memories.
ReplyDeletePhotos can jog the memory better then just trying to think about time periods. These days there are also videos! (Which I think is awesome--and we forget to make those just as we forgot to take pictures--LOL!)
ReplyDeleteHow did we survive all the constant chaos? I was just thinking about how my DIL, Leah, has never known me as the Energizer Bunny I used to be. Kind of funny really. Life changes so much even in the short time we have here.
Merry Christmas, you guys!! (Including Mr. Chance.) Stay safe, warm, and dry. ;)
Wow, quite a passel of pets you had back then! All those barky Shelties ;-) Fun looking at the old photos. Yep, amazing what we could do when we were younger!
ReplyDeleteYou do have a passel of pets that's for sure...but then everyone should 😋
ReplyDeleteThat is a lot of animals!! What's up with boyfriends giving cats?? My son had a girlfriend who gave him a dog. I wanted to strangle her. But fell in love with the dog too! Merry Christmas
ReplyDeleteYou have such a great sense of humor. Sharing your memories is fun for all of us.
ReplyDeleteI don't think I can list all the names of or oldest son's girl friends. His ability to choose was sometimes based on the kind of car they had. Yes he was fickle. I had a friend that taught shop at my school and drove for 5 years from Lamoni, Iowa, on the Iowa-Missouri border. His Volkswagen was worn our and so was he. So he went back to truck driving for a short while. That is a lot of miles for Far Guy. My mother had two of those wall decorations in her house when she died. I don't know who made them but someone did ask to have them for their home back in 2008,
