A Shiny Brite gift and snow fun

I got a Shiny Brite tree in the mail!!Shiny Brite Christmas

Thank you Mildred!  It is just perfect!  This tree is already decorated!

I have not begun the big Shiny Brite tree yet.  Soon …maybe.

Yesterday I dusted and put a whole bunch of dust collectors away in the living room so I can begin decorating.

It is cold here. The snow quit, the main roads are okay but the side roads are icy.

side roads are slippery

Far Guy got the snow blower started.  The darn thing needs a new electric starter…it was replaced about 18 months ago and used about six times since then.  Workmanship is not what it used to be.

Far Guy and Chance went to the Post Office for me, everything is in the mail…cards and Christmas carvings.  I had a feeling “off” day yesterday…had a long nap…didn’t seem to help much…hope this passes soon.

Patio was cleared of snow

We are supposed to get more snow today…so we will have snow fun again.

  1. Hope you are feeling better today. We are to get some snow today and tomorrow here in MPLS - maybe 5-8 they are telling us. So far we have gotten very little snow and it melts but it sounds like we may be in for it now.

  2. It's even snowing in Bellingham, but I'm in Florida. It only got to 65 here yesterday, but we were still able to swim in the heated pool in the morning. Even when it's cold here, it's relative. Looking at those pictures of your snow makes me feel cold. Brrr! Glad you're feeling somewhat better. :-)

  4. We don't have quite as much snow as you, I'm sure it isn't as cold, but it is very wintery here right now.

  5. You are so right. Things don't seem to last even half as long as they used to. So annoying especially with something vital like a snow blower.

We had a bit of an issue with our boiler recently. No. It didn't stop suddenly and fail to provide any heating or hot water. Weirdly it wouldn't stop at all. At 2am it was 26 degrees C in the kitchen or so the Chef tells me. I kept waking up and thinking "what's the matter with me, why am I so hot?" well, that's because the boiler wouldn't switch off and my bedroom was boiling.

Luckily it was quickly fixed but I'm sure the boiler doctor was here only about 6 months ago.

No snow here yet and although the weather was crisp and frosty last week we now have mild and damp.
    Keep warm.

  7. I hope you are feeling better today. 18 months and used 6 times!!! Things like that drive me crazy. It seems there's no pride in workmanship anymore. People expect things not to last. So wasteful. Just sad.

But I will be thrilled to see the shiny brite tree. And what a perfect card for you! :)

  8. I sure agree with you about workmanship not being what it used to be. The last time we bought a new refrigerator the salesman actually told us they were not built to last anymore - and it was a "good" brand! We always believed in buying quality so the item would last but I guess that doesn't always count these days. However, I am still using my toaster from the 1970's!

I sure hope you feel better soon!

  9. I am glad you have all your things mailed now. I need to start on our letter and get one more tree up. The big one left to the last. I like the shiny brite card. Snow today and tomorrow. Outside decorations are up. I need or want to buy a blower but I don't know much about them. My son sent me lots of information on the net.

  11. Looks like you have a head start on your preparations! We have had snow for two days, and more is forecast. Since we rarely have snow, it's amusing to see how people react. The stores are full of people buying emergency provisions, and traffic is non-existent in the mornings, but really picks up once the streets are cleared. So much panic!

  13. Here today it's like living in one of those Snow Globes. I hope you feel more enthusiasm soon. Feeling "off" is not much fun.

  14. We have only received two Christmas cards so far this year. Is everyone late, like me, or is the practice dying out? I'll get my letter finished tomorrow and I have a photo card ordered. I might get them in the mail by Wednesday.
I an excited to see your Shiny Brite tree too.

  16. I hope you are feeling better today, Connie. I just spent all of last week sick! It sure is miserable to be ill.

  17. Connie, I think of you every time I'm in an antique store that has ornaments. I finally figured out how to tell Shiny Brites from imitations, and I love the fact that you are such an ardent fan of them. Merry Christmas, a little early.

  18. You still get more done when you're not feeling good than I do when I'm fine! I do hope you feel better. I love that card....too cute with the little box of lights! You are right about workmanship...they purposely make things so they won't last.....greed has taken over our country.
