Fawn, Hawk and rain

We saw a fawn one night that was very curious about us. She/he was as curious about us as we were about her/him.

Fawn

Perhaps she thought hiding behind those blades of grass made her invisible.

We also saw a Hawk of some kind.  They seem to be more Hawks in our area hunting for food.  Perhaps they are just passing through.

Hawk

This one was just leaving its perch on a fence post.

It rained cats and dogs again…one day we got an inch and a half and last evening it rained hard for a really long time.

Steve and Jo were over to play cards last night, they have been keeping track of the rainfall…in July and August we got 27 inches of rain. 11 or 12 inches would be normal for the whole summer and on the average for a year we get 26 inches of precipitation. So there you have it…we are wet..perhaps we are turning tropical…the humidity the past few days has been horrid.

  3. Nice photos. My husband and I were up in your neck of the woods years back when a hawk hit the windshield. We didn't know what it was until after we stopped because of the loud noise. The birder/detective determined it was a hawk by the shape of the imprint it left on our slightly frosty window. And if MN is turning tropical...wanna go shopping for flowered shirts? Happy Thursday!

  4. Great pictures of the fawn and the hawk. You real have had a lot of rain. We had a bad thunderstorm go thru here last night. Our humidity levels have been very high for the almost a month now. Feels like I am living in the tropics. If I were to hang my clothes outside to dry they would never dry. Looking forward to Fall.

  5. That is a lot of rain. I guess you are just happy it's not snow you have to shovel! I hope the humidity backs off and you get some of those clear Minnesota autumn days soon.
Nice shots of the fawn and hawk.

  7. Have a friend that just headed back home to MN and said when she hit ND the humidity arrived! We are terribly dry and I had no idea you guys got THAT much rain each year. Nice (okay except for the skeeters it breeds).

  8. Wow, that is a LOT of rain for the summer! We get about 60" total for the year, but never that amount in the summer. Funny, I pulled out of our Vet's driveway yesterday morning and there were two fawns just crossing the road right in front of his place.

  9. Love the invisible fawn--LOL!
It really poured like crazy here yesterday afternoon. Leah and Ian got trapped at Office Max! I couldn't even see the garages out my patio door for a while. Was like a gray wall.

  11. 27 in of rain in a season is far too much. Our average per year is 12-14 in

  12. Beautiful fawn. Now that Mrs.T. has adopted Lily as our first "house" dog we have lots of cats and even pair of fawn who show up regularly in our back yard. This is not the way it was with all my "outside" hunting dogs and also Baron...
Actually I like the fawns but the feral cats not so much...:(

Your fawn sure does seem curious and almost unafraid. Nice that you had your camera handy.
