Thank you for all the birthday wishes! Far Guy took me out for supper; salad and steak my favorite foods! I was busy all day long…not sure what I got accomplished…just organizing “stuff.”
Town has calmed down…the tourists have left. Some days you could shoot a cannon down the highway and not hit a soul. I took this photo one day about lunch time.
We only need the four traffic lanes during the summer.
Far Guys old house is on the right…it used to be white now it is grey. They still have that big hole in the back yard…Far Guys Dad filled it in several times…it was always a mud hole after a rain. It is still a mud hole…Far Guy says the story about a fuel tank being buried there might be true.
It is a relief that the summer traffic is gone…you could possibly make a left turn again…carefully!
Oh that sounds like a perfect way to spend your birthday. "Burya fuel truck eh:) Hug B
ReplyDeleteSorry I missed your big day yesterday. Happy Birthday Connie.. Being taken out to dinner on your birthday is a fun thing to do. What a relief it must be to have the town back to just the locals again. I am so used to just local traffic that I freak out when I have to drive in a big city. Love the trips down memory lane also; looking at places where a person used to live.
ReplyDeleteYay for you! Winter snowbirds are back from Florida, so my sister complains about them coming back, and you are glad when the tourists leave. Are they the same people just moving from place to place? Probably not. :-)
ReplyDeleteOur tourist traffic is on the weekends for the wine trail on 290. There are over 400 B & Bs in our little town of 11,000 folks. The population probably goes up some 50% in the winter as the snow birds all come south, and the weekends are always busy.
ReplyDeleteWe are overflowing with hunters, which will last until forever. Sigh!

What a sweet birthday outing.
ReplyDeleteI would prefer the empty streets.
Happy day after birthday!
Oh, I see a car, maybe two! Looks like a great area for bike riding, nice and flat:)
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear you had a good day! That sure is an empty road.
ReplyDeleteMost of the tourists have left this area, too. It's nice to drive without the need to dodge big motor homes and camper trailers.
ReplyDeleteSo the tourists are gone and you survived your birthday. Life is good!
ReplyDeleteThey are thinning out here and also, we noticed, grayer and slower than the mobs of summer. It's nice isn't it?
ReplyDeleteI do know that as soon as I go down that street it would be my luck to get my car bashed in with your canon ball. Tourists are a double edged sword. I remember how Grand Rapids was grumpy with all those visitors in the summer. It would bother me too if we had invaders like that. We do have bikers all summer now trying to cross the trestle bridge. We have two new thriving cafes now because of that bridge. Our main street is always busy with a state hospital to the north and people coming and going to get to our Highway 141.
ReplyDeleteI am glad you got steak for your birthday. You are always going to be younger than me. Lucky you.
DeleteI'm glad you had a nice birthday! What do those tourists come for mainly? If it is Fall colour then they wouldn't be leaving yet. I just wondered.
ReplyDeleteFishing , boating and other lake activities:)
DeleteSteak and salad, yum! Best wishes for many more.
ReplyDeleteGlad you got to enjoy your favorite foods for your birthday--and without any traffic hassles in getting there, to boot! Your town certainly looks deserted. It must be quite the popular summertime hang.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a good birthday. I would like the town quieter, too.
ReplyDeleteAnd you even got some organizing done...nice! :)
I love a quiet town but you probably wouldn't appreciate it as much if it was that way all the time. So glad you had a nice birthday. I would have had to have ice cream though too. I treat myself to "forbidden foods" on holidays. Labor Day I had chips and dip! LOL! Oh, what's the next holiday...I have to start planning what "forbidden foods" I will have then. I rarely eat beef but a T-bone steak with salad and a "loaded" baked potato is sounding really good. I may have to have a pre-holiday dinner. I wish I would have been there....I would have baked you a cake and brought the ice cream too!
ReplyDeleteIt is nice to have some peace after crazy summer traffic for sure!
