The snow blew directly off the field creating hills and valleys kind of like whipped cream or meringue on a pie. The snow is gone elsewhere but in the drifts it remains…cold and a reminder that winter is not yet over even if the calendar does say it is Spring.
We went for a drive. The crows were busy, and we saw two ducks on the river. The wind was raw and it said “Winter” to me.
Yesterday only the snow drifts inspired me. Old Man Winter was an artist. There is more moisture for the wildflowers in the ditch!
The snow was in various forms of melting all day yesterday. We didn’t have to shovel. No shoveling is a good thing.
Whipped Cream or Meringue? I like Whipped Cream on Sour Cream and Raisin Pie but Meringue on Lemon Pie!
Great photos.....but, I'm sure you will be glad when it all melts away....spring has already arrived on The Prairie !!
ReplyDeleteThose are some great pictures. The snow drifts are spectacular. Now snow here but very cold "raw" wind is blowing. Even the birds are shivering. Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteThat is so pretty - - - glad your artist's eye caught that on camera to share with us! Whipped cream for sure. I remember my mom making it from "scratch". She insisted the dish and beaters for the mixer must go in the freezer before whipping the cream to make it do better. Whipped cream tastes so light - - but really isn't in calorie/fat content, is it?!!!
ReplyDeleteI actually thought I was looking at meringue in that first picture. I love whipped cream on anything but don't indulge very often. :-)
ReplyDeleteThat snow in the ditch sure does look like meringue to me. I love lemon meringue pie but haven't had any for decades. And everything is good with real whipped cream. Sometimes we have to forget about calories.
ReplyDeleteGlad that the wild flowers in the ditch are going to have more moisture.

Wow!!! Mother Nature is such a great artist, loving those snowdrifts. Whipped cream, never enough. Blessings Francine.
ReplyDeleteI remember as a kid how I loved those drifts in the ditches. My brother and I would walk through them or build a snow fort under them. Have a lovely weekend!
ReplyDeleteYou had a good wind to get these snow banks. I just like pie...no worries about whipped cream or ice cream.
ReplyDeleteOh we love Lemon Meringue pie soo good ! The snow we had yesterday is slowly melting but we may get more the good thing is we also will be getting rain and a sunny warm up next week . Lovely photos ! Thanks for sharing Have a good weekend !
ReplyDeleteThat snow, to me, looks just like that boiled white frosting. I do love whipped cream!
ReplyDeleteThose drifts are pretty. I think they look like whipped cream.
ReplyDeleteAmazing how the wind forms the snow into sculptures.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful natural sculptures, and they change daily!
ReplyDeleteI thought meringue too! Throw a little dirt on it and it will looked baked. YUM lemon meringue pie now I'm hungry!
ReplyDeleteThey are great looking drifts. We are feeling the cold again today coming directly from the north. Very windy but the sun does shine.
ReplyDeleteExactely the way I like them too, Connie. , It's been decades since I had a raisin cream pie. I think at a café in a small cowboy town in Wyoming....:)
ReplyDeleteWow! That was some crazy amount of snow. Melting is good! A very good thing!

I prefer whipped cream on my pie --any kind of pie--but I think those drifts look like meringue.
ReplyDeleteI think it looks like meringue. So who is counting the poll numbers? :)
ReplyDeleteExcellent photo! And now I'm hungry . . . for pie. Gosh, whipped cream, I think. Fun!
ReplyDeleteReally pretty photos. I giggle when I remember what John's late mom asked me one time after I made John's dad a coconut cream pie...."do you want me to tell you what you did wrong with the meringue???" lol
ReplyDeleteYes, meringue on lemon, whipped cream on the rest.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful meringue snow!
ReplyDeleteThose last days of winter always put me in a lemon meringue mood. Besides, if you beat it up really stiff, you can form peaks on those piles of meringue.
ReplyDeleteCool drifts! I love what the wind can do to the snow.
ReplyDeleteLike you, I'll take the meringue on lemon, whipped cream on all else.
