The weather is cool and windy..I think it must have snowed someplace or maybe an icecap is melting. The air has a chill to it.
The animals are on the move. Early yesterday morning Chance sounded the alarm..from his vantage point on the landing he could see through an open window and something came into his yard. It was a porcupine that waddled on through… I saw it waddling. I took Chance out on the leash ..Far Guy scouted around and yawned. He said “It is just moving through.” Maybe..
We saw some Turkeys the other day…they seem to be bunching up.
I gave Chance a lecture about the skunks and the porcupines..he is a Border Collie after all.
If he was as smart as his is handsome..we would be in business. He challenged Sophie over at Odda and Putzer’s the other day..Sophie is the in charge welcome cat. Chance ran at her and barked..she stood her ground and tried to rub up against him..well it ain’t no fun if she doesn’t run. Skunks run and Porcupines run..I wonder if Chance remembers his skunk encounter last year. I have my skunk bucket all ready just incase.
My Japanese Tree Lilac that never blooms has yellowish foliage this year.
Burr Oak leaves turning brown. Brown..brown everything is brown. It seems to early for the season of brown.
13 days and counting. I had the day off yesterday. Not much was accomplished I slept late..I baked some bread, did some laundry and played with the new camera. Chance is good company:)
For your sake, I hope Chance remembers his skunk encounter and avoids one this year. The close-up of Chance is a wonderful shot: he is so handsome.
ReplyDeleteYes, it is too early for the "Season of Brown." I'm hoping for some warm days of Autumn and colorful leaves for just a bit longer.
Our leaves are all turning brown and different shades of nothing. No color this year.

ReplyDeleteOh Chance, you gotta stay away from those critters, they can do lots of damage to you!!! The colors are bleah here too. I don't think this is going to be one of those spectacular falls!! Hope I'm wrong.
ReplyDeleteWe had a very dry couple of months, too, so I don't know what the foliage is likely to do here. The summer wildflowers are mostly all gone, but it's still awfully pretty around here in mid-September. Chance is not only border collie, he is also the handsomest one I've ever seen! :-)
ReplyDeleteColors here are brown, followed by more brown. The birds are eating me out of house and home so they must be getting ready to fly south. Sure hope Chance remembers his skunk encounter. He is too handsome to be bathing in tomato juice. :)
ReplyDeleteLovely photos ! It did get fall like here for a few days after a heat wave and major drought then it got humid again and now it's in between ! Mother nature cant seem to make up her mind . Some trees are loosing their leaves others are not, some leaves have fully changed others have not WOW! who knows ! ! Have a good day !

ReplyDeleteThe leaves are tentatively starting to change color here in the Netherlands also. We have yellows and browns and even some reds. I like them the best. They remind me of the maple trees in the States. Do you have any of them where you live?

It's about as nice as it can get for Fall around here. We don't get a lot of brilliant Fall colour, unlike the east coast, but usually if it stays sunny and clear we get a decent show. It will be interesting to see what happens this year, since it has been very dry lately here also.
ReplyDeleteLooks like we will be having a brown fall also. We were up to Mackinaw City this past weekend. We saw a little red but much more brown. I enjoyed catching up on your blogs this morning. The historical museum sounds like one I would like to visit. I must be a kid at heart. I love hands on activities.
ReplyDeleteI didn't post that my oldest son captured a skunk in his Chicago backyard. He trapped it thinking it was wise. I tried to tell him no. He got along ok and the city came and carried it away in the cage. I worry about Barney as he charges things without thinking also. We have skunk smell every once in a while as the neighbors keep cat food out all the time. Chance is looking really clean white and black.

I think the plants and leaves have had enough time to do their job so they are finished with this life. Check on the birds going through your yard!

ReplyDeleteI hope chance is very careful out there. He's looking particularly handsome, BTW. The leaves seem to be going straight to brown too often--no golds. :( Well, was 37 this morning...you'd think they'd just freeze green--LOL! :) Counting the days with you.
