Good Better Best

Our Granddaughter Savannah has a real “cool” shirt.

Savannah's Hockey Shirt

Hockey is over for the season, the Sports Banquet for Hockey was last night  The girls will have a week off and then they will start Hockey Lessons a couple of times a week. At least the going to games away from home is finished for the season. Savannah said “Lessons aren’t so bad, you can just shove everything else aside and concentrate on the game…and just skate.”

I hope she always remembers what her shirt says..it isn’t easy being 15 in todays world.  She is looking for a car..she gets her Driver’s License in July..seems like only yesterday she was coloring with big crayons in her high chair:)

  1. Oh, I know. Don't they grow up so quickly? Someday she will be driving you to appointments, etc. Sounds like she has a good head on her shoulders.

  3. Nice saying on the shirt. You are right, it's tough being a teen in today's world! Heaven help them.

  4. I think she is lucky to be living in a small town rather than a big city, and she's got her family. It's not easy being a teenager anywhere, though! I wouldn't go back if you paid me. :-)

  7. It sure seems like there are a lot of distractions out there - a lot of danger - many traps. It is always so wonderful to meet today's youth who are focused on healthy, wholesome activities and have a vision of the future.

  12. Those young-uns grow up so quick. True statement and one we should all strive for.

Ha! You don't see any gray because Loreal Preference still makes hair color. Hope you Chance and Far Guy have a great day.

  13. It is a creative shirt. Kids need to strive for best rather than less.

  14. I remember that quote from my "autograph" book from my childhood. Funny how it has great staying power.

  15. I quoted that to my children and now quote it to my grandchildren. Good words to remember when tackling anything.

  16. One of my former principals used to recite that all the time.

  17. What a great saying and what a great 'granddaughter. There's a lot worse things they have on shirts nowadays! I know I'm getting old because I'm starting to say "I'm glad I am not raising kids in today's world!"...that's for sure a sign of old age!

  19. Love the shirt! Yep, I hope that's her slogan and she sticks with it!!!

I'm sayin'....these kiddos grow up so fast. I've got one who's driven two years already and two will get permits this year. Where are my babies??? Heeehehehe!

God bless ya and have an excellent week my friend!!! :o)

  21. That was the motto that Dirt came away from his childhood and youth with! He would repeat it very often, just rattle it off. I don't know if he said it often enough to his own daughters for them to have it stuck like he does. My childhood saying (from my dad).. "If a job is once begun never leave it till it's done; be the labor great or small do it well or not at all." To which I always added for my girls and 4-Hers: "Whether you do all or part, do it with a happy heart." My mom's saying you ask? "Do it to the bitter end" or "Finish it to the bitter end" or "work to the bitter end, Lanny" the only constant in her sayings was "the bitter end" part, not exactly inspirational words. But for an undiagnosed ADDer like me, it was definitely accurate, that was what the end felt like, just prior to coming to it of course, bitter. But it never felt like that seconds after the job was finally done, even if it was picking up after the dogs in the yard! Suffice it to say, I prefered Dirt's saying and my dad's saying. It's awesome to see the saying is still used with the youth sports teams, Bet says Parelli (horse training trainer) uses it a lot. But other than that I've only heard Dirt use it, so I'm thrilled to see it on Savannah's shirt!

  22. What a lesson we could all learn from Savannah. Just shove everything else aside and concentrate.

  23. Great motto - - I have heard it before and still love it. It's one that everyone should adopt.
