Imagine that..our Spring was cut off at the knees by a snowstorm. How many inches of beautiful white stuff did we get..5 or 6 inches. Who cares. We have been thrust back into the bosom of winter.
I took this from inside the woodshed..I am now in charge of fixing the fire in the outdoor woodstove. Far Guy helps one handed and Josh stops by every once in awhile to throw in a really big chunk for me. I crawled over a huge snow bank and rescued my trusty orange wheelbarrow to assist me. I fill it with wood at the shed and then wheel it to the woodstove and unload it. It is not a job I really like..but I do like being warm..so I do what I have to do.
Miss Lynda guessed that the snow stick and the green ruler would be free of snow on March 23..that was yesterday..sorry Miss Lynda..you are not the winner. I did not blaze a trail to the snow stick, as you can see there is enough snow for a few more days.
Far Guy had a good re-check, and he got a new club. This one is just a bit smaller than the other one. Yes, he wrote a note to himself on it. I added the gauze you see sticking out..and that bit of orange is vet tape..I wrapped one of the Velcro straps because it was driving him nuts…which it turn was driving me nuts. I will spare you the gory photos..because they are gory. The original cut was clean and precise compared to the surgery.. the Surgeon increased the size of the cut and made several other incisions down the finger..I counted at least 14 stitches..perhaps more..it is all gunky and gross.
The Occupational Therapist showed me how to exercise the joints in his pinky finger and ring finger so that the joints do not become stiff. He starts real Therapy tomorrow..that should be a barrel of laughs:)
I know you're sick of the snow. It looks beautiful. I think about what great exercise it is to walk in or shovel. I'd like to spend one winter where it snows.
ReplyDeleteYou really got snow socked again. At the rate it is going, I think it will be July 4th before you are free of winter. That middle photo is wonderful with all the lines and shadows. So, now you are the woodchucker. Be careful out there and don't get hurt.
ReplyDeleteTell Far Guy good luck with his therapy. I imagine we will get to read a few tales about that experience:)
I hope therapy goes well!
ReplyDeleteSorry your snow stick got reset! At this rate it'll be mid April! :|
Stay warm!
I am and have always been the woodchucker!!! Farm Boy just doesn't see the woodpile gettin' low or the fire wanin' in the fireplace. It's great exercise though.
ReplyDeleteGood to hear that the Dr. appointment went well and hopefully recuperation and therapy get Far Guy battin' 1000 again.
I do believe spring ran and hid somewhere!!!
God bless and have a marvelous day!!!
oh, the snow!!!!!
ReplyDeletemy very best to Far Guide for a speedy recovery and well-behaved therapy lessons.
He must be miserable not being able to do much (and that in turn makes you miserable?). I do hope the therapy helps him to make a speedy recovery. I can't believe that snow has returned. Hopefully this is the last till next year.
ReplyDeleteI dont know what is more painful... the wheeling wood to the fire, the endless snow, or Far Guy's "club" and upcoming PT...
ReplyDeleteSomething tells me you will be happy to wave a flag, curbside, at the upcoming fourth of July parade..
Hope Far Guy's therapy goes well. YUP we got hit by snow again but the good thing is the sun is out will be for a few days and it is warm so melting it all wonderfully. Have a good day !
ReplyDeleteThat has to be a real pain in the rear having that great big thing hanging at the end of his arm.
ReplyDeleteWell, maybe that club is a little smaller, but it's still HUGE. And I hear you about wanting to be warm meaning you're doing the woodstove dance. I won't tell you how warm it is here today, since it would only make you mad. Where or where is spring???
ReplyDeleteDon't you just hate crawling over snowdrifts this time of year? I always thought pinky finger exercise was just the ticket......sure beats running on a dreadmill!
ReplyDeleteSorry that you got more snow, but the sky is lovely and blue at least:)
ReplyDeleteHere's to quick healing for Far Guy!
Thanks for sparing us the gory details ... I nearly fainted last time!
ReplyDeleteWe've got a kind of gale-tornado-snowstorm thing going on here!
And I was stupid enough to think that maybe we would have an early Spring. first we had the tease of warm weather which melted most of the snow. Then we had rain on top of all the melt (flooding- naturally). Now we have some snow and cold temperatures again. Good luck with Far Guys physical therapy!
ReplyDeleteI can't even imagine more snow for you...I think you might want to move:)
ReplyDeletePoor Far Guy and you too :( Wish I could help. It's a good thing Chance is there to cheer you up!
ReplyDeleteKisses,
Emma Rose
still the most amazing cast I've ever seen.
ReplyDeletePraise God for the good recheck on the hand. That's what we want - - - recovery with no complications or set-backs.
ReplyDeleteP.S. I will guess for sometime in April when you ask for 2012.
