Blowing Snow

We have been indoors since Friday noon.  It has snowed and the wind has been horrid.  Wind chill temperatures are in the -30s below zero.  On Sunday most of the roads in the Red River Valley were closed.

Andy made Calzones for supper and Noah joined us as he lives just two blocks away from us.

I watched a season of Hi Jack on Apple TV it was really good.  I am making progress on the photo albums.  The Grands albums are caught up with for now through 2024.  I am working on the family albums now and I completed 1972-1986... previously I did 1951-1972  in an album for myself.  Progress is happening and I hope to finish up this week.  Well mostly finish anyways there are some photos that I have taken that must be ordered as prints as I want to include them in the album.  It seems to be an ongoing kind of project that grows as I try to contain it!

  1. Always your weather is worse than ours. It’s cold and miserable here too.

You’ll never finish the photo project because as you remove pictures more replace those, but it’ll be appreciated.

  2. Luckily, you don't have to be bored now that you can't leave the house.
Is the cold normal for you? Here, -10°C is the average, and that's becoming increasingly rare.
Glad Noah was able to pull through; it's a nice change of scenery 😉

  4. Brrrr.....that 's some nasty weather. A good day to work on the photo albums. The family is lucky, I have a few albums my dad kept until I was about 10. I have one that his grandparents (?) may have made, and I have a bin of loose photos. Are you using special photo albums?

  5. The picture of the window with the snow outside is pretty. I am glad you have a warm inside place to be. Those temperatures are incomprehensible to most of us in TN. Your winter seems harsher than some in the past or am I wrong. It seemed to start quicker and keep going. Our temps have been colder than usual - - but no snow, thankfully. Not everyone feels that way though which is crazy because many don't know how to drive well on dry roads. They want it so their kids experience it and then they have pictures to post on FB. Humanity - - an interesting bunch for sure.

  6. Miserable weather is a good time to stay indoors and work on your project. Hopefully the storm passes and winds die down soon. Take care!

  7. This is bitterly cold. Nothing like having cabin fever. I'm guessing Sadie might not be a fan of this weather. I need to get my photos organized and put in albums. I have several containers that needs to be worked on. You are making great progress and when it's all done, you will be so proud. Keep the fires going and stay warm..

  8. Oh my, what frigid weather! The coldest temperatures I have ever been in were in the Grand Tetons in February on the back of a snowmobile. One of those years I got stuck in an outhouse whose door froze shut. I’ll stick with our TX winters now, although it’s supposed to be in upper teens and low 20’s here next weekend with wintry mix. Brrr! RHill, TX

  9. Hmm, that sounds like a project I should tackle. Our photos are just in boxes, bags, and bins. For the younger kids, I regret to say that I didn't even print out very many pictures. My goodness, that is some brutal winter weather! Brrrr!!!!

  10. The wind has been "breezy" here too. I spent most of the weekend inside though I did venture out a couple times but only stayed outside the distance from my car to whatever door I was heading too. Today is a federal holiday so I'm staying inside again and it is our coldest yet at 0 degrees.

  11. We're well into the -0 weather now too. Not real happy about that but what can you do? I just stay in as much as I can. Calzones sound delicious. I'm planning to make a big pot of potato soup for dinner. Yummy and warm.
    Blessings and hugs,
    Betsy

  14. That sounds like the kind of weather that really turns a house into a refuge.
Photo albums do have a way of growing lives of their own, but it sounds like such meaningful work. Stay warm and safe. ❄️

  15. Someone asked my question! I was wondering what albums you were using. I am so impressed with all your photo organization and sorting.
You beat us on temperature, it is feels like - 5 here with the wind chill. We may be winning on bad roads. My husband has a scanner and everything is a mess. We live near the turnpike and trucks keep jackknifing, cars sliding in ditches, pick ups sliding.Okay, we have a bridge over Lake Erie to an island (which wasn't closed for goodness sakes) and one car just slid and now there are 12 vehicles in the pile up. SO GLAD I am able to just stay home.

  19. That must be what is called the Dead of Winter. I hope it doesn't hang around too long.

  21. LD...It is great Noah can drop by. It makes the meal more fun as he has stuff to share I am sure. Winter is getting to be long and too windy for sure.
