Baby Pictures

This week I made it to the bottom of a crate filled with photographs.  My Mom always liked displaying our baby photos, first on the table in the living room, then in a knick knack shelf that was built in at the farm.  Later she put them up on the wall.  They have been on display in some room or another for  over 72 years.   One after another she added to the collection; 1951,1954, 1960 and 1966.

Here we all are.  We are all about six months old in the photos...just sitting up by ourselves...some better than others.

I took my other baby brothers to him last night.  I will take my baby brothers to him today.  My Mom also displayed our High School Graduation photos and our Wedding photos.  My sister's photo will be added to the ongoing pile of things I have for her.

  8. I love it! My mom never displayed family pictures. I'm not sure if it wasn't in style or not. In my hallway I have all my five children framed in their christening gown, around six months old. Above those I have framed "Olan Mills" portraits when they started kindergarten. And on the opposite wall I have those cheese framed stencils with all their class pictures and the senior photo in the middle. And I love them.

  9. Graduation photos hung on the living room wall for as long as I can remember. I made sure everyone received a pile of photos after my Mom died, too.

  10. The photos are wonderful.
Most of my siblings don't have formal baby photos. As the family grew, the money didn't and those things were a luxury. I do have one, in sepia tones, much like yours, from 1944. I'm looking at it right now, on a shelf over my computer desk.

  12. How lovely that your Mom did that. I have the newborn photos of our kids in our room on the wall. They have also been displayed ever since they were born. Mandy is 44, Jamie is 41 and Alex is 35 now. How did that happen?
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  13. The only pictures my mom ever displayed was a family picture with our first dog on top of the TV for years and then she had each of our graduation pictures up on the wall in the living room for several years after the youngest graduated. But that was it. She wasn't one for family photos. Maybe that's why I never really have been, either. Those are treasures, though. Wow!

  14. It is a blessing that your mother valued photographs. Also, that she kept so many things. I know it is a huge chore to sort all the items, but still each thing you have looked at she "touched" and now you are doing the same.

  16. My mom quit displaying the graduation photos after move from the farm to the city. I now have the four plus the one ex-sister-in-law’s in a downstairs dresser. I guess I could ship the to the two brothers that are still alive.

  20. Your family was great at documenting and taking photos. I have only a couple photos of me. My parents didn't take any. My Aunt was the one who got my pictures taken. What cute babies you all were!
