It was a wildfire smoke day here in our part of Minnesota. We had planned to go to one of the first car shows of the season....but the air quality kept us indoors all day. We had looked forward to getting out with Tilly.
Far Guy got out the flower carvings he worked on all last winter. He wanted to do a mock up arrangement before putting the flowers on a wooden base.
He has a very pretty walnut board for the display.
I worked on the border of my mosaic crochet Winter Wonderland. It is almost done.
The smoke is supposed to be less soon. It is a red alert meaning the air is unhealthy for everyone. Hard to stay inside but we watched the birds and the bunnies and the tailless squirrel in the yard through the windows.
We both had naps in the afternoon.
Far Side
We have an air quality alert already this morning and it will be worse this afternoon with heat and humidity. Looks like anything to do with outside work will have to be done right at sunrise.
ReplyDeleteThe sky is brightening a little, but it looks like it will be haze.
That carving display is incredible! Wow, that is beautiful!
Great to have a project while staying inside. Both are worthy of time spent creating them.
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful work Far Guy does.
ReplyDeleteI especially love the monarch
It's sad because we're only at the beginning of the fire season. I don't doubt we'll have more alerts in the future.
ReplyDeleteYou are both so talented.
I love that display, and your own project, too. But so sad that it's the air quality keeping you inside. And it's not even summer yet.
ReplyDeleteSorry the air quality kept you at home. Hope things improve soon.
ReplyDeleteThose flowers! Far Guy does such great work. I'm just amazed. Sorry about the smoke. I have a feeling that much of our time in Spokane will have to be spent indoors. How sad that it's so bad already this summer.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Betsy
Those flowers, all together :-o.
ReplyDeleteBoth of your projects are absolutely gorgeous! Thanks for sharing them with us.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful display! So much talent! Thank you for sharing, just amazing! ❤️πΊπ¦
ReplyDeleteThe carved flowers are absolutely beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI pray these awful fires stop soon.
We also had an air quality alert, but I saw your part of the state is really bad. Sorry you missed the show, but it wasn't worth it. Far Guy has a talent!
ReplyDeleteOMGosh! The flowers are absolutely stunning!!
ReplyDeleteFrom what I can see your blanket is going to be, too.
Sorry you had to miss the show. Possible thunderstorms the next three days so that should help clear the air. Can hope. Then would be a better week maybe.
Naps sound good. ;)
Beautiful flowers! Sorry you are stuck inside-hope the smokey air will clear soon.
ReplyDeleteSorry you couldn't get out!
ReplyDeleteHis flowers are absolutely amazing!
Both of you are so talented - those flower carvings are beautiful. We had the bad air Tuesday/Wednesday of last week (a city 70 miles from us had the worst air in the country for a few hours, an honor I hope never repeats for their sake). Staying inside if you can is certainly the best. I hope your air clears soon.
ReplyDeleteSmoke here too. Surprising as we just had rain.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a good day for crafting inside due to all that smoke outside. I like the lady slipper. Karen
ReplyDeleteThat's really a shame that the bad air quality kept you from taking Tilly and participating in the car show. Hopefully the air clears very soon.
ReplyDeleteOh dear, so sorry to hear that smoke kept you guys from enjoying your first car show this year. What a shame. I hope they can get those fires under control sometime soon in Canada. Sounds like you both got some good projects done while indoors. Wow....a tail-less squirrel?
ReplyDeleteI should have mentioned that I am just WOWED by both of your projects. You guys are amazing!
ReplyDeleteThose flower carvings are wonderful...I need to look back and see if I can see more of your mosaic crochet...it looks very interesting.
ReplyDeleteI hope you get a LOT of relief from all the smoke.
You two are so talented.
ReplyDeleteTail-less squirrel? I must have missed that story.
Both of you are very, VERY, talented. It's always exciting to see your work. Thank you for the photos.
ReplyDeleteThe smoke keeps shifting. I smell it when I bring in the flag at night. The wood carvings are so outstanding. Your crochet is a wonderful creation. I only work with concrete blocks and mowing the yard.
ReplyDeleteI've been watching the news about the smoke since it began and have been thinking about you guys up there and sending up prayers it dissipates altogether very soon. // Wow! Far Guy has really outdone himself on those flower carvings! Those are exceptional! And your mosaic crochet is one I really love! I must say, the two of you have such wonderful talents!! // I've had a few afternoon naps myself lately. I think it's been the humidity we're into now for the summer. Not as young as I used to be so it is beginning to make me run down sooner. But naps are good. Yes, they are. π Be blessed, my friend! π
ReplyDeleteMy Cedar Rapids family had smoke and air quality warnings too. Stay safe!
ReplyDeleteFar Guy's carvings are exquisite. I don't know how he does it....talent!
ReplyDeleteYour blanket is gorgeous. I always love your color choices too.
