June 1st

The Trillium are in full bloom and fading fast as the weather has been very warm.  Unseasonably warm for the first part of June.

Trillium as far as the eye can see in the woods.

It seems we had about a week of Spring and now Summer.  We  made trips to the cemeteries...yesterday we went to get our flowers so the lawn mowing people have an easier time over the summer.  We recycled and I put a bunch of stuff away.

My Mom is anemic, she has some erosion on the bottom part of her esophagus...so a prescription will be changed.  The Dr suspects that she has some bleeding from time to time from excess stomach acid.  Her hemoglobin is down.  I spent Tuesday with her in same day surgery so they could scope her esophagus and stomach.  Her legs are still swollen and one of her legs weeps all the time.  Getting her to put her feet up, wear compression stockings and walk around is a struggle. She is getting more forgetful and falls asleep easily.  (Mom is 93 years old) She no longer drives her vehicle...and that is a good thing, my other baby brother has the vehicle keys. It is hard for me to load her in the car along with her walker...she has a hard time lifting her legs high enough to enter the vehicle.

  3. I hear you on the heat. We are in a pattern of upper 80s to 90s and humid. It's miserable.

I'm sorry to read your mom is having difficulties. She is fortunate to have caring family near her.

  4. I feel for you, it is tough to see our parents failing. I do hope the docs are able to find a solution to the bleeding, and the discomfort she must be feeling.

The trilliums are lovely! We've definitely reached July temperatures here. Not long ago I was complaining about the cold, now it is the heat.

  5. Your Mom is the same age as my friend Mary. When I get to feeling old, I think of those I know who are much older than me. I perk right up.

  6. I agree--we had spring for like a week. Unseasonably warm is an understatement. Expecting 90s for several days already and been in the 80s for quite a bit of May. The trillium won't last long. :(
So sorry about your mom. My dad had the swollen weeping legs. Hard for her to go through surgery when she isn't feeling well. *giving you a virtual hug*

  9. I'm sorry your Mom is struggling with those health issues impacting her quality of life. I remember the very first time I saw trilliums, up in Canada near Ottawa, back in 1988. Early May, just blanketing the ground. It's a beautiful wildflower.

  15. We had such a beautiful week last week with 70's and 80's but very, very low humidity in the 20's. But this week is Nebraska. 80's and at 6:30 tonight the humidity was 87%. Miserable and I stay inside as much as possible.
You are such a great daughter, taking you Mom to all of her appointments. I'm sorry to hear of all of her issues and prayer she'll soon be better.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  16. I have been praying for your Mom ever since your dad died. Mentally it must be hard on her and then the physical deterioration cannot be pleasant to deal with at all. I'm so sorry she is going through this. Thank goodness she has you and your family.
Yes, it in the high 80's here but not bad in the mornings to get out and do chores. Not too much humidity yet unless I an just getting used to it? No, when it gets really hot and humid here in the Summer when you go outside it's like you can barely breathe.
Beautiful flowers! God is the BEST landscaper!

  17. It's hard to see our loved ones as they age and become infirm. I like to think of it as they are one day closer to heaven.

  18. It's so hard to watch our parents decline in health especially when they have been such strong people in our lives. Praying for your mom!
