This is called "Hidden Treasures"
I would have liked to see the piece of wood before he started carving...is it two pieces or just one?
What is inside? Maybe nothing ...perhaps it is the hands that are the treasure...
We had a quiet day, the snow storm fizzled out we got just a skiff of snow.
Our neighbor Steve had his open heart surgery and is doing well, we are so thankful for all the prayers for him and Jo. Jo said "Surgery successful and the nurses have helped him to sit in a chair with his legs up late this afternoon. We are so thankful this part is over— now to heal and go through the therapy and get home. Thank you all for your prayers - God is good!"
Far Side
I like that carving very much. I think there is something inside that is the treasure, but what do I know? And glad to hear Steve's surgery went well.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad your friend is recovering from heart surgery. My first thought when seeing this sculpture was similar to yours - one piece of wood or two?
ReplyDeleteGood news about Steve.
ReplyDeleteI like this piece of art. So glad your neighbor is doing well. Have a great weekend Connie. :)
ReplyDeleteSo glad to hear your neighbor is doing well. It takes a while to recover from open heart but sounds like he's doing as expected. Good news!!
ReplyDeleteI bet most people walk up and try to peek between the hands! I would. ;)
So happy for the good news about your friend! I want to think that the carver hid something in that fist. And wants part of the experience to be guessing what it could be. I wonder if a newspaper did an article when the sculpture was placed? Or if the park district has a brochure. I do like this one much more than yesterday.
ReplyDeleteGod is indeed good! I'm so glad to hear that Steve is doing well. I'll continue to pray for his healing and recovery. I can imaginet the relief that Jo feels. Did I ever tell you that was my Mom's name? Josephine. But everyone called her Jo.
ReplyDeletethat sculpture is amazing. I really like this one. I also would like to think of something hidden inside.
Blessings,
Betsy
As we age, seems our roads have bumps. Glad your neighbor getting over his surgery.
ReplyDeleteI'm happy for Steve also.... Jo too. One step at a time. Just one. ~Andrea xoxo
ReplyDeleteThrilled to hear Steve’s surgery went well and that he’s on the road to recovery. I like this piece of art (the other one, not so much). The wood is beautiful and the carving well done.
ReplyDeleteIn the case of this sculpture, imagining the hidden treasure is probably better than knowing.
ReplyDeleteAs to your friend's heart, it is much better to have opened it up, seen what's there, and FIXED it! Best wishes to him and his wife.
Iowa got plenty of snow. Luck you for not getting dumped on. Hope the neighbor feels better soon. Heart surgery is serious business and might take a while to recover. Love the carving.
ReplyDeleteGood news about Steve.
ReplyDeleteI like this piece of art
Lathers cut the piece of wood in half and then carefully dry it. I'm not sure if some similar method was used for this or not.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like a complicated sculpture. I am glad everything went well for your neighbor.
ReplyDeleteGood news for Steve and Jo.
ReplyDeleteThe carving is amazing. I quite like - much better than the one from yesterday. I could read posts but not comment from my daughter's I-Pad.
Interesting wood grain in that piece of art.
ReplyDeleteLove this art! I think the Hidden Treasure is whatever the observer holds dear.
ReplyDeleteGreat news that your neighbors surgery went well.
So happy to hear the good news about your neighbor's surgery! So glad to hear that the snowstorm missed you! Another strange sculpture to be sure. Hope you guys are doing fine this weekend! Do you get to talk to your parents and see how they're doing this winter? I bet they miss you guys!
ReplyDeleteYes I call my parents, they are doing fine:)
DeleteI'm so glad to hear he is doing well and past the surgery. I like that artwork. The wood and carving is pretty.
ReplyDeleteSo happy about Steve and Jo. That is great news! That is the prettiest sculpture yet.
