They are so fragrant! Chance liked to eat rose hips, he would eat all the rose hips that he could reach, so we planted a wild rose on his grave. In a few years it may bloom. We still miss Chance every single day.
A wild rose for Chance was a great choice! I have planted all sorts of wild flowers on Scout's grave, like trillium, violets, and columbines. I might see if I can get a wild rose going too! I am sorry things have been somewhat discouraging as for as the transplant surgery goes. I hope you can still have an opportunity to give it a go. I know many are pulling for you, definitely including me and my canine crew!!

I think now for sure I will move my Iowa wild rose to the new place in honor of both of our dogs. As it spreads I will just keep it cut back. My wild rose bloomed this year as it did not last year because of the drought. My Iowa wild rose astrally came from Minnesota years ago.
I also miss Chance and hope to hear about the day rose hips arrive on his grave. He was a rare and wonderful critter, who is the only blogging dog I ever heard of. :-)
Wild roses are so delicate and pretty. I definitely understand the missing of our loved pets. That is why I refused to have any cats or dogs for so many years. But I gave in - almost 18 years ago - and now I dread watching our geriatric cat getting so old and arthritic.
I didn't know they had fragrance. Chance....do you think he and Nitty met up? My mother and I split an order for roses and now when they bloom I know she is sending her love down to me and Chance will send his love in the blooms of his roses.
Oh what a sweet thing to do. These furbabies are so close to our hearts. I can imagine how you miss Chance. Just reading about him helped me know how special he was. I don't know what I'll do without my Chloe. She's my constant shadow. It's hard enough losing Frannie the cat last week. They leave holes in our hearts that never really heal. Blessings, Betsy
