The tree on Main Street was put in place last weekend.
As you can see it is a very tall tree. It has lights that were lit last night in a ceremony on Main Street. The lights are lit in honor of Hospice patients. Far Guy’s Mom was a hospice patient and received very compassionate care from Hospice…one of the lights was lit in honor of her memory.
Yes, we have center street parking and diagonal parking on Main Street. In the original townsite the streets were wide enough for a team of horses pulling a load of logs to unload at the lumber company and make a U turn in the street.
It is a very nice tree. It is a Blue Spruce. I will try to get a photo of it at night…but we rarely go into town at night in the winter.
As you can see we have the usual dismal grey November skies. However it was 40 F yesterday or 4 C eh! Much of the snow has melted.
We have nearly 3000 people here but no tree, no senior center...no nothing! LOL! Thanks for sharing your tree and how interesting about the lumber days. Enjoy your weekend and your warmup.
ReplyDeleteI didn't go to our Twinkle Fest parade but one of these years I will go! Our town that is about 10 miles away has a parade down mainstreet and it ends at the lighting of the tree. All the shops have white Christmas lights they turn on...it is pretty for the winter season.
ReplyDeleteNice tree! It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas in your town. We don't have a tree per se, just a lot of twinkly lights wound around each separate tree in our downtown. :-)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful tree - whoever selected it did a nice job.
ReplyDeleteThat is a gorgeous tree. I would love to see a picture of it lit up at night. We had rain yesterday afternoon, but it turned to snow unexpectedly. This morning the streets are all covered with ice and the grass is white. Not what we expected to wake up to. Have a lovely Saturday my friend. I hope you’re feeling much better.
ReplyDeleteBlessings, Betsy
That sounds like one very wide main street!
ReplyDeleteThe tree looks great. They picked a good one. :)
The tree on Main street used to be a tradition here. Not any more. It's a nice touch for Christmas.
ReplyDeleteThat's a very nice tribute to the ones who have gone before. A way to remember special memories of the holiday season. Beautiful tree!
ReplyDeleteThat is a beautiful tree and really is tall! It is so nice that the lights are in honor of the Hospice patients. Our small town (about 14,000) has its tree lighting next week.
ReplyDeleteI share some of you Minnesota stories with my 91 year old friend Mavis who was born in Minnesota and still has people there. My breakfast group, that includes Mavis, wants to know how that church cooked 48 turkeys. She would appreciate the tree on main street. So do I.
ReplyDeleteOh, I just looked back and found my answer Thanks. I'll be sharing it. :-)
ReplyDeleteIt's gray and dreary here too but at least it's not raining. Our porch roof still leaks when it rains in spite of various efforts to fix the problem.
ReplyDeleteWe have a tall tree like that here that Hospice uses. Makes an impressive sight, lit up at night.
ReplyDeleteNice tree! Of course it's nice, it's from Minnesota!
ReplyDeleteGray and dreary here too! But, not nearly as cold. :) That is a big beautiful tree.
ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty tree! I'll bet it looks nice all lit up.
ReplyDeleteNice tree, and I've been to the town. I like the parking system and the German restaurant if it's still there. Phil
ReplyDeleteHi Phil, The german Place on Main is now a Deli:)
DeleteThat's a beautiful tree and tradition. Interesting story about the horses and logs.
ReplyDeleteOur town's tree lighting will take place next weekend. If the weather is nice we will go.
