A long time ago eleven years ago I took some photos of Far Guy and Chance walking on the shores of Lake Michigan in October of 2007. Chance was three years old.
It was a breezy Fall afternoon and we all needed to stretch our legs. I love the sound of the waves and could have stayed there for hours!
We had a nice walk along the shore. We had been visiting friends and relatives all over Indiana. We visited relatives in Georgetown, friends in Hymera, Warren, Ossian, Goshen and South Bend. It was a real visiting trip. Many of those old Indiana friends are now gone… we still have the relatives! We hated the thought of going through Chicago to get home so we headed up the Lower Penisula to the UP and then home.
I used to drive that area also and I don't think I'd want to do it now! I do want to get out and about along the Great Lakes, that sort of is a dream trip for me. I went by motorcycle around Lake Superior one summer and it was a great trip.
ReplyDeleteChance is so brave! Bob is terrified of the ocean and tries to herd me away from it. She has lived at the beach since she was weeks old, so no excuse there either.
ReplyDeleteI feel that walking the beach is a great form of relaxation. Also avoiding driving through Chicago is must in my book. I drive an hour out of my way to avoid Chicago when driving to GA to visit my son.
ReplyDeleteChicago must be universally disliked as a drive through location. I remember the roads were always under construction when my dad drove us to visit cousins in a Chicago suburb and they were still under construction years later when Tom and I drove to visit our our son at Northwestern. I know the roads could not have been the same roads but the congestion was the same.
ReplyDeleteWhen ever I see photos of the Great Lakes I am reminded of how huge they are. I always think I’m looking at a photo of the ocean until I read the captions. Our Chloe is terrified of water too and she is a lab! There’s no excuse for it. Ha! I have never driven through Chicago. Just flying through the airport is enough for me.
ReplyDeleteMany blessings,
Betsy
How fast those eleven years have flown. It's always nice to see Chance looking like the youngster he once was. We all get older, even our precious furry friends. I love to walk on the beach, too. :-)
ReplyDeleteSuch pretty pictures. That's John's old territory! Have a good day.

A beautiful place for a walk. One of my favorite vacations was a week in a beach cottage on Lake Michigan with a group of girlfriends about 9 years ago. Your post brought back some great memories. Time flies too fast!
ReplyDeleteI love Lake Michigan.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! Chance does look so young!
ReplyDeleteTime passes all too quickly.
We'll go far out of our way to avoid driving through big cities too. Much too stressful.
ReplyDeleteEleven years ago bet it doesn't feel that long ago
ReplyDeleteChance was a very different dog in those days.
ReplyDeleteChance looks so different! I think everyone loves a walk along a beach.
ReplyDeleteFabulous shots! Treasured memories.
ReplyDeleteHow time flies. I love these pictures. Chance looks so young and slim. They are just like us really, aren't they.
ReplyDeleteChance looks so young in that photo! Sounds like you had a long trip. Totally understandable to grab a chance to go for a walk. Our dog loved walking on the beach, and we were fine with that...until he discovered how much FUN it was, digging in the sand. That was the end of his beach-combing career!
ReplyDeleteLook at Chance! Just a pup and Far Guy too! LOL!
