Not sure what we will do today. Sounds like thunderstorms will be active during parade time and probably during the fireworks too. It has been raining every day…you have to mow lawn between rain showers. We got another inch of rain in the last 24 hours. You can almost see the grass grow. The skeeters have hatched.
I have eggs and potatoes all cooked up for potato salad, and Far Guy cut up a bunch of fruit. We will probably put something on the grill…burgers or chicken… or cook inside…we have to stay flexible with the weather.
We have been enjoying the quiet, no fireworks every night down at the lake, if it ever stops raining they will have to be brave souls to light off fireworks covered in skeeters.
We can always watch fireworks on tv….skeeter free tv.
Have a Happy 4th whatever you are doing!
Do you schedule your posts the night before? I get up early and you have always posted by then! You're amazing! Happy 4th of July to you. My daughter was up in MN yesterday (Minneapolis) for a Teacher's union meeting and enjoyed the scenery and the drive. One thing about down here is few mosquitoes either that or they don't like me...too much garlic in my system? I would think with the humidity and the lake(s) we would have them but nada. I must admit I'm not out in the evening much. I've heard fireworks here for the last couple weeks but not enough to keep me awake. It's been sunny and hot here so they will have them tonight. I'd like to grill out but it's so dang hot here that standing over a hot grill doesn't appeal to me. Winter is the best time for grilling here! LOL! I'm in the mood for some salads of all kinds. There's a watermelon salad with mint and feta cheese that I want to try. Have a great day! It's 'craft' day for me and there might be some ice cream for dessert! LOL!
ReplyDeleteYes I write at night and schedule them for early AM :)
DeleteWe have a rain free day for once, and that means lots of loud fireworks for a couple days. I will also watch fireworks on TV rather than outdoors. The ladies are having a celebratory walk this morning so of course I will join them! :-)
ReplyDeleteWe're having a quiet day, too. Potato salad sounds good. We've had temperatures in the nineties for days. Rain yesterday cooled us off in the evening.
ReplyDeleteYour plans sound like ours. Expecting rain again today. Happy Fourth of July.
ReplyDeleteHappy Fourth of July to you, it's Low Country Boil and rain for us.
ReplyDeleteHappy Fourth! We have heard very few fire crackers so far. I imagine it will be a different story today and into the evening. So far I haven't had to wrap the dogs. A different site on the internet said to use an Ace bandage and not fabric. Who knew?
ReplyDeleteThe skeeters in your area are vicious: the last time I was there, I had welts from their bites for weeks!
ReplyDeleteMy neighbors lit fireworks late last night, and I'm sure there will be more tonight.
Fireworks are banned here...stage two fire ban...we are in some scary times...we need some rain to develop and help us out. :(
ReplyDeleteHave a great day today.
ReplyDeleteHappy Independence Day! We are staying in as the heat wave continues but many of our neighbors are doing fireworks so the booms are all around us. Have a good day!
ReplyDeleteHappy 4th!! Guess we will be watching the fireworks on TV too. I like your little patriotic wreath. Poppy and I did hang a bright new flag on the pole.
ReplyDeleteYou are blessed to have rain. It almost always rains on the 4th of July sometime during the day but I think it will miss today.
ReplyDeleteHappy Fourth! I'll pick skeeter free indoor celebrating--LOL! ;)
ReplyDeleteI hope you had a wonderful, fun filled 4th
ReplyDeleteWe have skeeters here in our yard all summer long, but mostly in the evenings. i hate those buggers, but they love me.
ReplyDeleteWe will be doing the full 4th of July deal: brunch, parade, family gathering, food, and fireworks.
We could do with some of your rain!! Too bad about your mosquitoes... I'm thankful we have very few of them.
ReplyDeleteHope you had a good day no matter what. I'm sure the animals were glad of a firework-free day.
ReplyDeleteYes, the fourth was not of our planning. We received notice on Monday the family from Chicago on the 4th.was coming for a visit. We had water heater breaking down on Monday, water heater installed on Tuesday and cleaned house and bought groceries both days. I was still vacuuming on the fourth for the companies downstairs accommodation. It all worked out well but it sure didn’t feel like the fourth.
