The trees were injured by some kind of field chemical overspray in the Fall of 2014. I wrote about the Orange Trees here.
They are looking better. The smaller trees seem to have recovered almost completely. The older trees have many dead lower branches.
This is what they look like today.
This is what they looked like in April of 2015.
It goes to show you that given time trees can recover from the brink of death. If someone had told me they would recover I would have said they were nuts.
I remember that post and I thought they were 'goners' for sure! It's wonderful that they were able to recover!
ReplyDeleteMe too. Pleased that we were wrong.
DeletePleased to see the green again.
ReplyDeleteWhen you first posted I thought they were dead. Wow, they are looking good; so glad they recovered.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad they are recovered. It does make me hopeful that other things can come back from the brink, too. :-)
ReplyDeleteGood to see this update!
ReplyDeleteThat's a nice comeback. Down here instead of cutting back the brush and trees from the secondary roads, they spray it with some chemical that kills everything down to the dirt. We call it Agen Orange because the whole roadside looks just like your orange trees. I hate to see it.
ReplyDeleteHappy to see they came back, they sure did look bad.
ReplyDeleteME too! I'm glad they are coming back, though!
ReplyDeleteI'm amazed that thess trees came back. That would make you think is was chemical and the needles were harmed.
ReplyDeleteI never would have believed it either. I'm glad they survived.
ReplyDeleteI'm surprised too! I thought they were done for. Glad they survived.
ReplyDeleteI live near Detroit and most of the pine trees in my city are dead or dying from a virus. This comes on top of losing every ash tree within a 50 mile radius to the emerald ash borer. This bug is a recent Asian import. We have lots of automotive company Asian employees who come for a few years work assignment. My city, which has the highest number of Asian families in the state, was ground zero for the invasion.
ReplyDeleteThey seem to have recovered quite well.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad they are hanging in there!
ReplyDeleteThe ones that I was watching along our main highway did the same thing. Today they are all ok but two of them which had to be removed.
ReplyDeleteThankful for this update. Very surprising.
ReplyDeleteI noticed just last week a lot of trees at our gold course that had dead lower branches and the tops were growing green!
