Any leaf

Is a good leaf as long as I don’t have to mulch, rake or blow it into the woods.

Yesterday I did the second mulching ( I have mulching blades on my lawn mower that rips/shreds the leaves to smithereens.)  I even have a new set of mulching blades waiting in the wings if I need them….I am so worth those expensive blades.  Our lawn such that it is never needs fertilizer…between Chance and the mulched leaves we are set to go.

I have guesstimated that there will be ten mulches in total…unless it snows.

I can get it all done in about 90 minutes.  Yesterday we used the blower to scoot all the leaves out of the rocks next to the house…that will have to be done at least three times before it is over.

I also had time to get the leaves out of the flower bed, my Marigolds are still looking pretty good.  Good enough that I watered them probably for the last time.

Some have been nipped by the frost but the glass flower hovering over these must have saved them.  I have been pleased with the sunny yellow color of these Marigolds and the Red Salvia was a hit with the Hummingbirds…plus the Salvia has reseeded itself!

I worked on the wood carved Christmas ornaments.  I have completed 67…another 6 to go and then a few extras…because I will always need a few extra.

  1. I also mulch the leaves. Sure beats raking. Love your little glass flower hovering over the marigold. Looks so pretty.

  2. Your pretty yellow marigolds remind me how much I associate that color with you. You've been busy. :-)

  4. Your sure donhave. knck for the glass flowers! So pretty. The marigolds are still vibrant, aren't they? We haven't had frost down here yet, but it won't be long.

  5. Your getting close to the end of Christmas carving before Thanksgiving. That is a great feeling. Our leaves are not falling yet. A few maybe leaving because of the wind fallen. I have dead sticks that I have to keep up. I really like the character of the glass flower as it leans out over the garden.

  6. Hi:
You have on hand a new mulching blade! What a treat - bet you can hardly wait to use it but probably will have to wait till next year? Your marigolds so lovely and nice to still have a couple flowers.

  10. Are you selling any ornaments again this year or did you get your stock depleted? Just curious.
Working the leaves is still better than playing with the snow???

  12. Yard work never seems to end in the fall. More leaves always come from somewhere. However, I do like fall yard work.

  13. We have pine trees on the lot next door, very tall ( just asked DH and he figures 75 feet ) so we don't have leaves to rake but the gutters are always plugged with pine needles it seems.

  16. Mulching sounds soooo much better than raking!
Wow! You are going to be all ready for Christmas pretty soon! Well, not if you put up the fancy, special tree. Of course, you could always start right after Halloween. ;)

  17. Those are pretty marigolds. I love your glass flowers. Our last home had tons of leaves but we do not have any trees near our house here. John buried Harriet and Ditto in the wooded area just beyond where we had the 2 trees to fall yesterday. John keeps their little area neat and tidy; otherwise, we just let the leaves/pine straw alone. You have made great progress on the ornaments. I hope you, FG and Chance have a good afternoon.

  18. I love your Fall...we're having a strange one but maybe it will come eventually. No frost here and the AC is still being used some days. Our "peak" for color isn't until the end of October. Love your header!

  19. Our leaves have been gone for a while, raked pine needles yesterday tho (hate that). The garden has been to bed for 2 weeks although am still giving it some water now and then since it is so dry. We had our first real killing frost a few nights ago so onward we go! Love your marigolds and your glass flowers!
