It is not a great year for Fall Color. The drought we had last spring must have carried through showing up in so so fall color.
Guyles Lake has very little water.
Fall color at Guyles Lake.
We went for a short ride, Chance had not been for a ride in a couple of days.
I worked on Christmas Ornaments outside until the wind and chilly 57 F or 13.8 C eh got to me. I may have to move to the greenhouse/woodshop to finish up.
I gave up at 5:50 PM and turned the furnace on…I was just cold…and even my sweater and slippers didn’t warm me up. I guess furnace season is here.
The colors this year do seem "muted" ~ we drove through Itasca Park yesterday, there are some quite pretty areas with wilderness drive still pretty green (next weekend may be the peak). The heat in the house has been coming on in the evenings here. Enjoy your Sunday!
ReplyDeleteWe've started cooling down, but the leaves won't change color for another month or so and only a few of our trees even lose their leaves.
ReplyDeleteSixty feels cool to me.
ReplyDeleteMany of our leaves have fallen from drought but a few are turning their colors to fall.
I think winter is going to come early this year...we are seeing signs already...I am so never ready for winter.

Although muted, the colors are still pretty.
ReplyDeleteI'm noticing fall colors, but I think mostly dead from drought....so far. It was 45 this morning!
ReplyDeleteHave a warmer day!!
We have had an abundance of rain the last couple of days and a bit cooler temps so that combination made a bit of the chill go into our bones.
ReplyDeleteYesterday was a good day to begin cooking extra for the freezer.
Oh we have had the furnace on for a few days here as the temps at night dropped to 4C eh ? and the winds have been howling to cold and or damp weather and I dont mix well lol ! The trees here are in between the change . Thanks for sharing , Have a good day !
ReplyDeleteMy furnace has been coming on here for quite a while. It runs a few times in the morning. that 13.8 C is sure cold eh?
ReplyDeleteI read that it takes a couple of seasons (sometimes longer) for the land to recover from a drought. We had a severe one a few years ago....I think it took two years to recover. Even now, I notice full grown trees that died during that time... and are still standing, crispy brown.
ReplyDeleteIt will be unusual if Minnesota doesn't have some color. I don't think we will but I can tell yet for sure. I do see the birch is yellowing. Its too cold for me to go outside but will anyway later today. Barney misses his late night walks as I just haven't been able to get into the cold air.
ReplyDeleteI'm beginning to wonder if we will have all brown this fall, because of the dry weather. Boy has that changed. I love the pictures in your last post. Those little girls are so cute. I love the picture of Chance and one of the girls.
ReplyDeleteOur furnace ran for the first time this morning and by afternoon we had to open some doors because the sun was actually (almost) hot. Now, just past 7 P.M. it's back to chilly. Guess that's October for you.
ReplyDeleteLovely fall colours! Our heating is on too - it's been about 2 C when we wake up in the mornings.
ReplyDeleteThe last two days have been overcast, dreary, and a bit rainy. Fall is gradually creeping down the mountainside.
ReplyDeleteWe have plenty of water here in SC we'd be glad to share. :-(
ReplyDeleteI bet Chance liked his ride! Been cold early. I don't like it when we go from 80s and 90s down to too chilly to open a window in the middle of the day. *sigh* You should be done with your carvings soon, though.
ReplyDeleteOur leaves seem to just be drying up with little color. We have not needed heat yet but we have turned off the a/c. A couple of mornings, I have needed a sweater to go out.
ReplyDeleteAlways tough to turn that furnace on the first time - but then my nekkids were freezing at night so out came jammies and I finally turned on the heat. Your colors look much like ours, not much for color because it is so darned dry.
ReplyDeleteI put my furnace on, turned it off again!
