The Silver Fox

We took a drive over to Perham Minnesota to see our friend Jim.  He is one of the Mountain Men, he is called the Silver Fox.

Jims Place

Friday was set up day so Jim had time to sit with us and talk.  We met a number of his friends and learned all about the Rendezvous.  We walked around and visited some of the vendors.

Bugsys Boutique and Bakery

We bought some raisin bread, a cookbook and some treats for Chance.

Vendors at the Rendevous

We stopped by the Blacksmiths and admired the wares.  In one of those other tents we bought some marbles and a gift for someone special.

Jim asked me to take some photographs of him and I was happy to oblige.  We enjoyed our afternoon watching a long bow competition and participants coming and going.

This fellow told me “I live for these weekends, there isn’t anything better than a good shooting competition!”

  5. I'm glad Jim and his friends are keeping the Mountain Man history alive in your area. There's a group here, too, but I'm not sure how often they gather after the Rendezvous they host in June.

  6. That looks like fun. At first it looked like the Civil War Reenactments they do in the South but I realized you wouldn't have that there. Glad they are keeping history alive.

  8. These people have fun recreating some of our history and talking about. They seem to be very enthusiastic about their interest.

  9. It would be a fun adventure. I was at one of them at Grand Portage so many years ago. Your photos of Jim are really good. He should really like them.

  11. You don't have mountains in Minnesota do you? He needs to come down here...he would fit right in! LOL! But then it is probably lots cooler up there especially wearing all that paraphernalia. I haven't been to one of those fairs/old time "reenactment" festivals in a long , long time. Looks like it was a fun day and some great "goodies".

  13. Big boys and their toys! I guess it's a way they can still have fun and adventures in the woods even tho they are grown up. There was a rendezvous camp at our county fair every year and my kids loved visiting it.
