We like afternoon drives. This week we went on a few. We went off into the boonies. Reminder to self..Far Guy can go seven hours between meals..and I cannot..so take along a snack..just incase one adventurous road leads to another.
I wanted to go down the Hanna Ore Trail.
We didn’t meet another vehicle all afternoon.
Fall is most certainly here.
Bottomless Lake is on the first part of the Hanna Ore Trail. I am sure it must have a bottom..but it is most likely a mucky bottom that seems to go on forever. The lake sits in a deep hole and the road runs along the hill above the lake.
These Maples have a very golden fall color. These are not Red Maples or Sugar Maples..they turn orange and are in the process of turning colors now.
We saw one small animal all afternoon..it moved into the brush so fast we could not identify it. Possibly a raccoon or a porcupine.
The wind howled through our yard all day long on Thursday. It rained leaves. Most of them ended up smack dab in front of the front door..huge windrows of leaves stretched along the whole house.
We are doing real fun stuff in-between rides..like stacking wood and moving leaves:)
Wonderful pictures! Love seeing the leaves turn and can't get out anymore, so these are really special. Enjoy your freedom from the daily museum grind while it lasts! ;)
ReplyDeleteWow - fall is already well advanced over there. Those maples are just gorgeous - so flamboyant!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures and how lucky you were to be driving along that road and not meet any other cars. So peaceful.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful colors! I always love to see what's happening around the country. I can't go that long without eating, either, and I carry an emergency Power Bar. After a few months it looks pretty beat up, so I eat it. :-)
ReplyDeleteThank you for stopping my blog - a really appreciate new traffic and commentary.
ReplyDeleteYour afternoon looks wonderful. We're into grey wet days here right now, but we did have many of those bright days in the past couple weeks.
What a wonderful way to spend the day! The colors are beautiful. And those leaves? They all gather at our door too!
ReplyDeleteI am envious of these gorgeous views and the fact that you can drive at your leisure, not being pushed by other drivers.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a wonderful week, except for the wood stacking and raking leaves!!!
Some great Images of Fall in your area. Fall here in PA has not quite arrived just yet. Must go further North for more color. I always enjoy this time of the year when Nature shows off her splendor for the last time.
ReplyDeleteWhat glorious beauty! It makes me smile just to see the pictures.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos and Fall colours.
ReplyDeleteWe don't get much like that here. Different trees, usually damper, and the nights don't get as cool.
Your beautiful colours are to make up for your winters:)
What a ride! Spectacular pictures sweetie!!! We had our first frost here this mornin' although it wasn't t killin' frost yet.
ReplyDeleteHave a bright and beautiful weekend sweetie!
God bless ya! :o)
I need to get out for a ride - the pine trees dropping some of their needles here at home isn't real spectacular! Glad you are enjoying your time off.... Maybe see ya out on the road somewhere...
ReplyDeleteThe country where you live is really beautiful, Far Side. Thank you for sharing it with us. :)
ReplyDeleteYour pictures are beautiful, our leaves have not started to change color yet, the temps are cooler but that is the extent of our Autumn.
ReplyDeleteI love seeing the reds in the fall colors. I miss them so I enjoyed the short drive with you. I could smell the woodsmoke and feel the crisp air.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful drive. Funny how some folks can spend a day without food. Food isn't a problem for us but my husband would never make a bathroom stop if the car didn't need gas.
ReplyDeleteNice drive! I just about stole the first picture for next weeks Sunday Stills challenge;)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos! I love autumn's colors!
ReplyDeleteSounds heavenly...deep sigh...
ReplyDeleteLady Autumn has certainly painted a beautiful picture in your neck of the woods.
ReplyDeleteQuite beautiful. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteSo pretty - as a Minneapolitan, I love the fall colors here in the SW part of the city - you have even more to appreciate!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos. We are seeing some intense color in spots, especially along the Mississippi yesterday. Must get out and take some pictures, too.
ReplyDeleteAw pretty, very very pretty. Our autumn is coming on very slowly. The vine maples and a few cottonwood have crossed over but that's it. we have a big batten down the ahtches sotrm coming on Monday and Tuesday, hopefully there will be leaves left, but I do love a good storm!
