October Flowers

I still have two plants that look pretty good.

Physostegia or Obedient Plant.

Physostegia

It is called Obedient Plant, because the individual flowers can be arranged on the stalk.  You can actually point them all in one direction if you wish.

The Sedum is usually covered with bees this time of year.  With all the Corporate Farmers spraying.. bees are at a minimum this year..just an observation.

This  lonely fly used it as a landing strip.

We attended a Retirement Party yesterday for a fellow that used to work with Far Guy.  We visited with many people that we have not seen in years.  Gosh almost everyone has grey hair and looks much older than I remember.

We also visited with a friend who was injured in a freaky fall off a chair that required eleven surgeries on her elbow, knee and heel.  She will have to learn how to walk all over again when she gets the Doctors okay.  Her message was clear, do not use chairs  when you really need a ladder.  She was injured in May and is still in a wheelchair, but she still has her leg..and she still has her sense of humor too:)

  1. The older we get the more fragile and of course more grey hair we get! I have been grey since my thirties! I color it still because I just don't want to be gray in my forties either!

  2. I wonder how you could fall hard enough off a chair to break so many bones! Perhaps it's party because of osteoporosis that she broke so much. Yikes! That is scary.

  4. OMGoodness! I won't haul around big plant pots on stools again, I promise! I'm glad she still has her sense of humor.

Funny how other people get older looking.

I worry about the lack of bees. :(

    Have a great Sunday! :)

  5. Oh, yes, I am familiar with nasty falls. Another rule is don't use a bar stool to install a curtain swag.

  9. We have four stepladders placed strategically in the house so they are as handy as a chair. Hope your friend mends well.

  10. The bee population is very low around here, too. And this week I heard a rumor that the same spraying may help cause increased allergies in humans. Sigh. I should try obedient plant again; sedums need some company at this time of year.

  12. Yipe! Message received on the chair/ladder issue!

I love the Obedient Plant. Wouldn't it be great if you could boil it down to a syrup that would make obey you?
