This photograph was taken at my Grandparents D farm. My Aunt M is on the left and my Mother on the right. My Mother was seventeen and my Aunt was fifteen. I absolutely love the dogs in the the photo, one looks like a relative of Chances. I asked my Mother about the dogs, she could not remember their names. She is holding something..it looks like a white baby kitten. My Mother thinks that the photograph was taken on Easter Sunday in 1946. I am curious about the colors in the photo, I have several of these photos that have been colored. Does anyone know anything about this technique or what it was called? It has an interesting effect on the black and white photo:)
I have some of those also, even some of me. It was sure a fad for awhile, giving people colored photographs, until colored film became available.

Dashing off a quick comment, running out the door. My Mom and Dad's wedding photo was colorized like that. They were hand tinted, and you could buy kits to do that yourself a few years ago, before Photoshop. Now you can do it on the computer so easily.

ReplyDeleteI used to color some of my photographs. I think we used colored pencils, but can't remember for sure. I love old photographs, and I used to take a lot with my Brownie camera. But they got lost along the way with all our moving.
