Our oldest daughter brought us a whole bunch of apples from their apple trees.
I made an apple crisp.
I will end up freezing some of it...it is Gluten Free so I pawned some off on my other baby brother.
I peeled and peeled apples...sliced them into cold water with some lemon juice...let them sit. Then drained them off and put them on a towel to dry...I covered them with another towel and patted them dry ...then in a single layer onto parchment paper lined cookie sheets and into the freezer. Once frozen they were sealed in our food saver bags.
Here they are...there is enough in this bag for a 9x9 baking pan. I have some bags that are perfect for a 9 x 13 pan too.
A lot of work, but handy to have on hand for future quick desserts. The apple crisp looks delicious and I’m sure smells so good also. RHill, TX
ReplyDeleteThat apple crisp looks delicious!
ReplyDeleteYou know Apple Crisp is one of my favorites! I did not know about freezing apples. Thanks for instruction on how you do that. We love our vacuum sealed bags, too! It's amazing how long items stay fresh in them.
ReplyDeleteThat apple crisp looks delicious! I made apple crisp for the first time a few weeks ago and we didn't like it. The recipe called for vanilla extract. Now I love vanilla extract, but I did not like it in the apple crisp. :) Your G. Grandchildren are all such cutie pies. I looked back at their Halloween pictures.
ReplyDeleteWhen a person doesn't feel good some simple things are projects. I know---oh, how I know
ReplyDeleteNot sure how many apples I am up to processing these days. Back when we had apple trees I would can around 25 qts of apple pie filling for the year. My church is big on homemade pie for events. I canned lots of applesauce, too. Plain old quarts for my boring family and pints and half pints of fancy applesauce for me. And lots of just plain old canned apple slices for whatever I needed. Luckily we didn't remove the apple trees until all our kids moved out on their own.
ReplyDeleteThis looks scrumptious 😋
ReplyDeleteOur apple trees are no longer producing, which means I have no apples to process. That's fine with me. I do like apple crisp though. :-(
ReplyDeleteThose apples will make a nice treat this winter. I love apple crisp. My chickens would have loved your peelings.
ReplyDeleteLD....It looks good!
