We are kinda lost on quiet days with no medical appointments. No need to hurry and get up to be someplace. No place to go yesterday. I slept til 9AM Far Guy was up at o dark thirty...the hormone med ( Tamoxifen) that he has to take causes him anxiety which keeps him awake. It is a conundrum. Tamoxifen blocks estrogen and stops cancer cells from growing. Tamoxifen was discontinued during radiation and started again after radiation was finished.
I am working on a very frustrating project...so I needed a time out. So I started some scrubbies to put in Christmas stockings.

I put a pork roast in the oven we will have mashed potatoes, gravy and some baked carrots and parsnips for supper. Comfort food on a very chilly Minnesota day.
Minnesota weather; High was 13F or -11C Low was -9F or -23C. Even Sadie says it is a tad chilly.

mmm sounds delish!
ReplyDeleteThis is a tough time for lots of people. My sister's beloved 15 year old companion dog died suddenly. We are all in mourning.
ReplyDeleteMy sis was on Tamoxifen for quite awhile after her bout with breast cancer years ago. She said the worst was the achy feeling in her finger joints and other joints. However, it seemed to help.
ReplyDeleteFingers crossed this gets better.
My wife is on tamoxifen and will be for the next four years or more. She too is up at dark thirty in the morning but she was before she started taking it too so perhaps couldn't notice that as a side effect.
ReplyDeleteIt's incredible to me that drug makers can't make things have fewer side effects. FG just can't seem to catch a break with those miserable side effects.
ReplyDeleteIt is chilly! It has to be a good feeling to just relax. That is a very nice comfort meal.
ReplyDeleteI hope Far Guy can discontinue that med sooner rather than later, it sounds horrid. Hopefully there is something else that works as well.
ReplyDeleteYour dinner sounds perfect for a chilly winter evening.
Sometimes Comfort food is the only thing that works!!!
ReplyDeleteHooray for no place to go because it is truly nice to have no schedule some days and especially because it is so very cold to have to be outside. Our seventy (plus) years old lungs don't appreciate frigid air that we once might have thought was invigorating! I do remember in growing up in upstate NY and loving the cold, cold days of winter. I hope you get some more days without travel. My thought is you will adjust nicely to that schedule when the choice is yours and not a medical appointment that causes you to leave the house.
ReplyDeleteMy husband got up at Dark Thirty when he worked and does the same since he retired ten years ago. I think I could sleep until noon if anyone would ever give me a chance, LOL. Your dinner sounds SO GOOD.
ReplyDeleteDrugs always seem to have side effects that are negative! I've always had trouble sleeping so I'm tired all the time! Hopefully you can both get enough rest!
ReplyDeleteYour dinner sounds so yummy.
I hope the medication is at least doing what it is supposed to do. Poor Gene can't catch a break with the meds. I have troubles with meds, too. My heart goes out to him.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a good comfort food meal for this cold weather. :)
No appointments must have been really nice. I usually sleep a couple of hours longer than Dennis does too.Dinner sound yummy. We had lasagna last night.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Betsy
Yum...your dinner is just the kind of foods I like. comfort foods! It can be miserable when meds mess with our systems and our rest...Hope this clears up very soon..stay warm!
ReplyDeleteI'd say that was a tad chilly too! I'm glad to have left over spaghetti since I've been too busy to start dinner from scratch.
ReplyDeleteIt must have felt strange to have no appointments! Will FG get acclimated to the drug and be able to relax more?
ReplyDeleteI sure hope so!
DeleteGlad you guys can take a break from the appointments once In a while. Sorry to hear about far guy's anxiety...I get that sometimes too, at night and it is awful trying to sleep. Stay warm in the cold weather. Your dinner sounded good. diane in northern wis
