News from home

There was a storm through Minnesota on Friday night, many people are without electricity. Luckily our home in the woods is okay. Grandgirls Savannah and Paige both had trees down…in fact a tree blocked Savannahs door. My sister has no electricity and my friend Susie has no electricity either. It will be a number of days before electricity is restored. The weather people are calling it a hurricane.

Neighbor  Leah sent me a photo of the Flax field blooming across from our driveway! I wish I could have seen it, maybe next year!

Such a beautiful sight to see!

In other news, Miss Minnesota was crowned…and she is the beautiful Emma who lives near us and just so happens to be dating our great nephew Mason! You can check out the Miss Minnesota Facebook page to see a photo.  She is a nursing student and her platform is Water Safety Knowledge which is perfect for all the lakes we have in Minnesota.  Onward to Miss America..wouldn’t that be something!  Just so you know she is as beautiful on the inside as outside.

  1. I’ve never seen flax growing. It looks like white ashy blooms. Hope the electric will be restored soon.

  2. Did I know you had a sister? That's scary...a hurricane in the Midwest? Thank goodness all is okay. Congratulations to Emma and the best of luck to her in the Miss America pageant.
The field of flax is gorgeous. I hope people get their power back soon!

  5. Flax is so gorgeous when it's in bloom. I haven't seen any in years now as farmers around here just don't grow it. I'm glad your home didn't get any damage. Hopefully those impacted will get electricity back quickly.

  6. Congratulations to Emma! What a wonderful role model! You must all be so proud of her!
Horrible news about the storm. Losing power is so devastating and they have to work so hard to get everything righted. I hope Savannah can get that tree moved quickly.

  7. That's quite the storm. Glad everyone is safe!

The flax field is beautiful! I've grown flax in pots, and it's a very pretty little flower.

  8. I'm sorry to hear about the storm that has left so many without power. We had a doozy of a storm last night here in the campground too. It thundered and lightening most of the night, but this morning it is much, much cooler and lower humidity. What a relief. Prayers continue my dear friend.
    Blessings and love,
    Betsy

  11. A hurricane! Good to know everyone is ok, even if there is no electricity. I haven't seen flax growing much less in bloom. It's really pretty.

  12. I had no idea MN could have hurricanes. I learn some new every day.

Always more fun when you know someone competing. Sounds like Emma is a winner either way!

  13. That sounds like it was quite the storm! I think it's unusual for a hurricane to strike that far inland? Hopefully all who are without electricity will have a back up generator for their freezers etc.
Blue flax fields are stunning! Glad you at least got to see a photo of it.

  14. It's cool that you have a connection to the new Miss Minnesota.
Wind storms, trees down, and power outages are something we are familiar with here, but not quite hurricanes!

  15. Hurricane?! Now that is something new.
That is so cool that you know Miss Minnesota!
    The flax is so pretty!
Hope you are both doing well and enjoying the weather break in temps. :)

  16. I imagine that storm was in some way connected to fierce storms in Ontario that we saw on the news. Scary. The field of flax looks lovely!

  17. It was quite a weekend here.... thankfully we were not in the storm's path (the communities north weren't so lucky). And it was hot! We worked outside, took a break -- repeat and repeat! The flax field was beautiful and pictures do not sure how pretty! So exciting for Emma's family, neighbors and all that know her!
