A bit better

Air Quality was a bit better yesterday...we still had moderate particulate pollution due to the Wild Fires in Canada.   I wish they would put the wet stuff on the red stuff.

We limited our time outdoors.  Wednesday the air should be better...we hope.

There is a patch of Pussytoes in our yard, also known as Antennaria neglecta.  It often forms a dense mat...it poisons its neighboring plants so it can expand its territory.  It is a plant Native to Minnesota.

Yesterday I took a look at the canned goods in the pantry and organized it so I know what I have.  I did a couple of loads of laundry.  No nap.

Minnesota Weather: High 71 F or 22 C Low 47 F or 9 C eh!

We had a Doctors appointment in Detroit Lakes yesterday so we went to KFC and picked up chicken and biscuits for supper.

  1. I love a nice organized pantry. I'm always surprised about a can or two hiding, that I forgot I had. Our KFC closed about a year ago but we have Popeye's, Raising Caines, and now Chick Fil-A too. I often wonder how much chicken they think the folks in one town can eat?! The granddaughters love Raising Caines...we get it every time they come for an overnight stay, which is every few months. ~Andrea xoxo

  2. Cute little flowers...I was thinking this must be native to your area... I need to go through and check expiration dates on some items in my pantry. Hope the air quality is much clearer for you all today. Can't beat some good KFC chicken and biscuits...

  3. It looks much clearer out this morning here, although they sky is still a bit grey instead of blue. KFC chicken and biscuits would have been a tasty supper. Our closest grocery has awesome broasted chicken in their deli - almost as good as KFC.

  5. We got a couple of inches of rain which really helped clear the air. Nice, sunny day today, but too wet to do yard work.

  6. Any Morels out up there? They usually come out with the Trillium. Also, wild fires usually trigger a good blooming! Next year could be awesome for Morels near you.

  7. I have never heard of Pussy Toes but we had Pussy Willows in upstate NY. I thought they were so pretty and soft - - felt like a rabbit's foot.
I started inventory on my freezer but need to finish it. It is in the basement so looks don't matter even though it is new within the last ten years. I have little pieces of labeled painter's tape on the door and just take the item off when I remove it from the freezer. I have had other methods in the past but this works best for now.
Yesterday was boiled cabbage, carrots, red-skinned potatoes, and fried ham for the hubby.
I have Boarshead lemon pepper chicken and boiled eggs for protein each day.
Today though I will make a bunch of turkey meatballs for the freezer. My crumbs will be corn flakes I put in the blender.

  8. We're trying with fires. Unfortunately it will get worse before it gets better. We don't have smoke in Alberta YET .

  9. I tried to get pussytoes to grow in the garden with no luck!

  10. I'm glad the smoke cleared enough to allow you to get out of the house for a bit.
In my experience, the pantry always holds a couple of surprises. My daughter's is especially so, as I didn't buy most of the stuff.

  11. I LOVE KFC!!! But because of all the yummy flour products and Terry being gluten intolerant we can no longer eat there. :(

  12. I like the panty organized too. The can holder that I showed on my blog a few months ago has really helped me stay organized. The smoke is still bad in Omaha today, I was hoping all of the rain we had yesterday would wash it away, but no luck. We are heading south on I-29 right now and crossed into Missouri about 5 minutes ago. There is still smoke here!
We haven't had KFC for quite some time. The prices here sky-rocketed about a year ago. We sometimes will pick it up at the grocery store but usually just have Costco routisserie.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  13. Yes, 17,000 evacuated. It is awful. Leaving with nothing. It is terrible.

  14. I've been seeing news of the fires. So sad. I haven't had KFC in months. Can't eat anything fried with the medication I'm taking

  15. I often have to organise the tins in the pantry, I like to know what's there so when Tim says we need such and such I know if we already have it because if its doesn't jump out and bite him he doesn't see it.

  16. At least your weather seems to be okay. I don't think I've heard of Pussytoes. They sound like a plant to keep out of the garden.

  17. We have a variety of Pussy Toes here that grows in alpine meadows.

  19. Glad to hear the air quality is better. It's awful what is happening with those wildfires in Canada.
