Holy Smoke!

Usually you have to go out of our trees to see the smoke.  Well not yesterday.

I took photos from inside the house.

Looking murky out there.

Needless to say the wildfire smoke covered up the sun.

We stayed indoors all day...again.   I read a bit and then had a four hour nap.

Minnesota Weather: High 82 F or 28 C  Low  47 F or 9 C eh.

We had pork chops, rice and peaches for supper.

Too many days inside is discouraging...at least when it is 40 below we can stick our heads out in the fresh air.  Canada please put out your fires!!

  1. I do hope those fires are out soon. How awful not to be able to breathe!

  2. This 5th season stinks! Hard to believe how bad it got yesterday.

  3. Wow, I find this interesting, and today we have "smoke" haze from Canada. Crazy. It looks like a hazy rainy day here, but it's the smoke.

  4. They need more water bombers!

  5. Fortunately by the time it gets here, it has all been high altitude smoke which makes for pretty sunsets but doesn't really impact air quality significantly. The last couple days our air quality has been labeled as moderate but still safe to go outside unless you are sensitive to breathing issues.

  6. Your dinner meal sounds so good, especially with peaches. I know this must be super frustrating not to be able to go outdoors. I need to read up on the fires and see how much of them are contained. Hope the skies today are much clearer for y'all.

  7. Maybe you could make some suggestions on how to put out the fires? I’m quite sure we would put out “out” the fires if we could. Laureen

  8. Sorry Connie, I don't think that the fires are going to be out or contained anytime soon. Our inept provincial government agency seems incapable of understanding the need for more fire crews up north. We only have so many water bombers so it is necessary to fight it from the ground and that doesn't appear to be happening.
    Do stay safe!

  9. The smoke reach us in Southern Ontario last night - it's pretty hazy here today. I haven't been outside yet to see if it smells strong. Usually we get the haze but can't smell it, but with the fires in Northern Ontario and Quebec last year, the whole town smelled like a campfire for about a week

  10. Yikes, that looks crazy awful.

  11. We're getting a LOT of rain today and hopefully that will wash some of the smoke we have out of the air. Either way we're heading south tomorrow toward Kentucky for graduation. It's much cooler too.
    Blessings,

  12. The smoke really hit us late afternoon. Before that it was just a bit hazy, but then we started really smelling it and it looked positively foggy outside.

  13. Gosh, you can surely see the haze. Far Guy best stay indoors til it clears.

  15. Wildfire make me so sad. So much is being destroyed.

  16. I'm sure they are trying. Burning up is no fun.
Our smoke and fire season is yet ahead of us.

  17. I fear this is our new reality. We in New York were hit hard by smoke in the summer of 2023. Sad to see it's your turn - yet again.

  18. It awfully early for wildfire season, but everything is so dry. Hopefully, Canada will get some much needed moisture to aid in fire abatement.

  19. For some reason we here in Southern B.C. do not have nearly as much smoke as that which blankets the rest of Canada and obviously a fair bit of the US. How I wish those fires could be brought under control!

  20. The issue is to keep people safe. Many people have had to leave their homes. We are lucky here with no smoke but our turn is coming.

  21. That sucks, having smoke like that really puts a damper on going outside, perhaps some rain would help?

  22. Putting out the fires is easier said than done when there are strong winds, here in Alberta they recorded wind gusts of 129 km hr (80 mph) the other day. That fanned a lot of flames in northern Alberta. I hope the prevailing winds where you are change direction, it is tough having to be inside when it is so nice out.

  23. It would be wonderful if we could put out the fires. Just ask all the residents that have been forced to evacuate.

  24. That is amazing how it travels so far. I hope it clears up soon.
