It rained enough to encourage the grass to green up a bit and start to grow.
This is the view out the kitchen window on Thursday November 10.
Then it snowed overnight and the Juncos came...they are snowbirds after all. They were all over in the yard pecking at the grass/dirt.
We just got enough snow to turn the ground white. Far Guy says there was no ice. I did not go outside to shovel or to do anything else outside.
Inside kept me busy...one afternoon I began cleaning the pantry...not done with it yet. The next afternoon I finished the Spring cleaning in the Fall in the bathroom...yeah me! I tasked Far Guy with the horrid job of updating the Christmas Address list....the program we use sucks big time...I threw my hands in the air and gave up...AND then he said "Didn't I enter all those addresses last year on my computer?" Yes dear...you win!!!!!
Far Side
We had Juncos show up yesterday also! We just had some almost perceptible snow flurries but nothing to speak of.
ReplyDeleteYou would love how I keep my Christmas list...totally unorganized and probably why I don't often do the cards anymore.
I have a stack of envelopes from years before with return addresses on it.
I haven't felt the urge to do any cards this year. :(
I have to pick out a photo or something and at least get some printed. Most of my Aunts and Uncles are gone. I used to love writing letters to them and waiting for one back.
Sigh.
Have a great day!
We had the ice storm over here. Very little snow, like you, but a LOT of ice first--nearly all day! Dangerously slippery out there! I moved my infusion to next Thursday.
ReplyDeleteI forget things like that all the time anymore--LOL! Glad hubby remembered. :)
It almost looks like spring in that first shot. :-)
ReplyDeleteWe are getting a dusting of snow this morning - just enough to leave the sidewalk cracks white and there is a little in the grass showing. We've had lots of bird activity this week. I've even seen 2 bluejays at the feeder at the same time. We rarely see even 1 here, so 2 together was amazing.
ReplyDeleteLooks like yesterday was our last day of warm. I should see Juncos soon.
ReplyDeleteThe juncos have not shown up here yet. I guess when they empty your feeder they might fly down. The rain was good. I bet my glass rain gauge is broken from our had freezes. Too under the weather to think about it. Our crippled old neighbor across the way was mowing his yard this morning. I guess he too wants every leaf to be gone.
ReplyDeleteIt's cold with a light dusting of snow. You are on an organizing roll! Good job Far Guy, he's got your back!
ReplyDeleteNorth AR had snow last evening. We got a little rain. Birds are hungry. I filled my feeders. I sort hate snow. I’m a “sun” fan.
ReplyDeleteWinter hasn't made up it's mind at your place.
ReplyDeleteSpring cleaning in the Fall. I like that. Eventually it all gets done.
ReplyDeleteGrowing up in rural Oregon the Juncos used to be winter/snow birds. Now, here in Puget Sound country they are year round. They nest on the ground in our perennial beds.
ReplyDeleteI guess I'll do photo cards again this year if I can come up with a photo. It used to be so much easier when Costco did photo cards. And what will I say in a letter that everybody doesn't already know? Well, I'd better think of something or people might think we're dead. :-(
We had snow today.. just a few flakes. But the cold is remaining. Right by the Lake... I have almost forgotten what Midwest snow storms are like. Now I'm sure I will be reminded.
ReplyDeleteYour lawn soon pretty green or white. Ours in white now too. Glad you gave the address job to your hubby...maybe he'll enjoy it???
ReplyDeleteI was in a cleaning frenzy this morning. And, I ordered a new computer . . .
ReplyDeleteWe had our first snow flurries this morning, but nothing has stuck yet. So bitter cold though with a damp north wind pushing it all. Brrrr.
ReplyDeleteI started working on cards this week too. I need to get them out early with our new address.
Blessings,
Betsy
The juncos came through here a couple of weeks ago. I'm left with chickadees and a lonely grackle that apparently missed the memo to head south. Normally I chase the grackles away but I'll let this one feed as long as it wants.
ReplyDeleteIt is going to be a long winter at this rate.
I've been cleaning and crafting and doing some Christmas too. Wasn;t it just summer a few weeks ago? Have fun!
