I am so done with leaves. The last of nine mulchings was completed on Friday...it was dirty work as it is real dry here. Yesterday Far Guy washed up the mower and got it ready for winter.
We washed the windows again...this time using glass wax. Earlier we used something else and it just wasn't working either that or when it sprinkled a tad bit of rain it had mud in it. :(
Yesterday we had 63 F or 18 C for a high...although Far Guy reports that out thermometer was showing 70 F for a while in the sunshine.
I collected all the yard art that I wanted to save from winters wrath. We still have a few things to do on our list but we are basically ready for winter.
I sprayed one last time for ants on the outside perimeter of the house.
Yesterday we got a heap of mail...mostly Medicare stuff...switch here...try this...they are pretty stupid as they included return postage paid envelopes. So I returned them...empty.
Lately my email has been getting some scam stuff...can you believe I won an I Phone, a set of Nordic Cookware, a Generator and a Vacuum cleaner and if that don't beat all a Lawn Mower...I just had to give them a credit card to pay for the shipping. It all sounds so good...I can see why some people are sucked in.
Photo taken before I got the blower out and blew most of these leaves into the woods...it looks better now.
Far Side
I have never heard of glass wax. I'm assuming it is applied to the outside of the window. Curious to know if it really does work.
ReplyDeleteI like to fill the envelopes with other stuff and mail it back!
ReplyDeleteI love living in a yard with trees but the downside is definitely the falling leaves. But I only have a few trees - I can't imagine dealing with the amount you do.
ReplyDeleteGood on you for sending back those envelopes. I've been known to send them back with their material in it, sometimes torn up, sometimes not. But I don't do it often.
Scam e-mails are beyond ridiculous. My provider used to segregate them and I would have to check the folder because they occasionally kicked out one from a friend but now they all show up. Marking them spam seems to help some but not with all of them. My faves are the ones that show up as having been sent by me...dumb criminals!
When we lived in Wisconsin we dealt with oak, maple, elm and poplar leaves every far. Beautiful when in peak color and we enjoyed the cool shade in the summer but certainly a chore in the fall!
ReplyDeleteOh my, it does look like winter there. The green is all gone. Now that the rains have come, we are greening up.
ReplyDeleteI'm not done with leaves. I am getting a bit fed up, though!
ReplyDeleteMy windows looks like dust has been sprinkled over them. It's sp dry. Most of the leaves have been blown away by gale force winds last week, so it's not the problem it usually is.
ReplyDeleteThere's still quite a few leaves on the trees around the house, but I noticed when we took the Bonneville out yesterday, most of the woods along the road and fields are pretty bare. We has some really good wind the last couple of days and it took care of it.
ReplyDeleteMany of our leaves are just beginning to turn, or already blown off by the fierce winds. Your yard looks really good! :-)
ReplyDeleteDone and dusted! Bet that feels good. Now I hope you have a rest before the snow shoveling begins!
ReplyDeleteI mowed my first round of leaves in the front yard. They need to be done again but I will wait. My backyard maple is dropping larges piles of leaves. I will try to mulch them and not bag them. We donate to a couple of things and they gave out their list to others. We get free things all of the time from fundraisers that we are not going to give to. I like all the free name labels if they spell my last name correctly.
ReplyDeleteI guess some people are gullible and bite on the scam stuff. Sad.
ReplyDeleteI'd not thought of just sending all those envelopes back. What a creative and perfect idea!
ReplyDeleteAnd you're right about all the fall clean up. We've just barely gotten started. Are we lazy or what?
Just recently my email account has been receiving untold amounts of spam mail, far more than normal. Speaking with others, it seems to be affecting everyone that way at the moment. I feel sorry that some scam emails are so convincing that they are bound to find a victim somewhere. I'm glad you resisted believing you had won all those things.
ReplyDeleteSounds like you've been hard at it with those leaves. Are they all off the trees now by you? We still have some that are hanging on. Yes, we get a lot of garbage mail too that goes right in the garbage. With my facebook account getting hacked on the first of October and then my daughter's email account getting hacked last week. I am darned sick of that kind of thing.
ReplyDeleteOur mail is full of medicare offers and politics - all going into the recycle bin immediately.
ReplyDeleteA lot of spam is getting through in my email, too. I have won all kinds of stuff--many from stores I have never purchased anything from--LOL!
ReplyDeleteNice to be done with the leaves. The trees are so lovely but they are so much work for you in the fall.
So many of my leaves haven’t fallen. I can’t mulch for a while yet. My job will start later this month.
ReplyDeleteI love the return mail deal!!! Hilarious 😂
ReplyDeleteMy mailbox is stuffed with voting propaganda along with Medicare choices too. My email has settled down in the scam department.
ReplyDeleteHowever the phone keeps ringing off the hook and I get text messages to Emily...whoever SHE is to vote. I block those messages.
We mowed our leaves and I am trying to convince hubby to just leave things as they are right now. He mowed and the dust was terrible. He was covered in it and it sure didn't help his breathing one bit.
I hope we get rain later this week.
The trees are getting bare here too, although there are still a lot of leaves hangin on. I get so tired of spam, mail, phone and email. If those people put as much energy into doing something legal and useful just imagine how nice it would be.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Betsy
The Missouri Dept of Conservation suggests not raking leaves, I'm in favor of that.
