Peony

My Peonies had a good Spring and early Summer with adequate rain!

I have three plants, all from neighbor Jo years ago.  Ruby, Pink and White.   The white one has not bloomed yet.

Ants are always present.

Years ago I recall this time of year the ladies would bring bouquets of peonies to church on Sunday mornings and the church smelled so good!   I suppose they don't "do" that anymore...too bad.

  1. I bring my peonies in and float them in bowls of water, the smell is so wonderful!
I know you can't have them in the house, but I do wish I had more than one color.
    Beautiful! Ours are done now.

  2. Peonies and ants just go together! And the smell of them was divine at my grandmother's house.

  3. I remember learning that ants help the peonies to open. I don't know if that's true or not. Beautiful, though! :-)

  4. I love peonies. So pretty. Mine are all out front where I seldom see them. I go in and out the back all day long, but seldom out the front :-/. I should move a few this summer.

  5. Peonies bring back such lovely memories of my mom. They were one of her favorite flowers and she had several bushes of them in the farm yard. She'd often cut one and put it in a bowl. As you've said the smell was so good.

  6. When I worked at our library, a new person cut bouquets of peonies and put them on all the desks in the morning. We were overrun with aunts! I appreciate their beauty OUTSIDE, LOL.

  7. Your peony is so pretty. I remember lots of bushes of various colors in our yard as a child. Just a few years ago we had people bringing flowers into church in Spokane but I'm told no one does it any longer. It's the same here too. I miss that.

  11. Fist time I ever saw one, I thought they were HUGE roses. Our neighbor has the rainbow of colors in their yard. Very fragrant!

  12. I have 15 peonies, about 8-9 different varieties. crazysheeplady, move them in the Fall. That's the optimum time of year for transplanting peonies. Mine have been done.

  14. Peonies are one of my favorite flowers! We went to a wedding a few years ago and the bride and all the bridesmaids had peony bouquets. It was awesome.

  16. The peonies are beautiful. I like the colors of the two you shared. I have only one bloom left now and need to deadhead things.
