Frustration Day

Thursday was Infusion Day or Frustration Day...needless to say many people are not doing their jobs.  What is wrong with people...it seems as if everyone within the Health Care system has lost touch with the patient and what the patient needs.  Like an Infusion...a certain number of mg's over a certain length of time,  Doctor's orders, appointments cancelled and new Doctor's appointments made without consulting the patient...Frustration so bad that Far Guy just wants to give up...and I don't blame him.

Of course I will try my best to encourage him to stay the course, to be patient...maybe the new Doctor taking over his care will be just the ticket.  Time will tell.

  2. I'm so sorry this is happening to Far Guy, Connie. It breaks my heart! Yes, patients' thoughts & wishes seem to be the last thing on employees' minds... and if that patient is a senior citizen, it's even worse. *sigh* I'm so sorry. Please tell Far Guy NOT to give up. If he does, the only person he'd be hurting is himself as the medical personnel couldn't care less. ~Andrea xoxo

  5. I hear you... my husband is also dealing with the health care "profession" which isn't being too professional these days.
I hope things straighten out soon.

  6. Oh boy, it must be so disheartening. I certainly hope the new doctor will make a difference for Far Guy.

  7. I sure hope a new doctor will do the right thing! Don't be afraid to speak up - you are the "buyer" - they certainly aren't paying you.

  8. Hope that new doctor will push things in the right direction. It's really unacceptable to have such poor attention to detail, isn't it?

  9. Hang in there Far Guy. Let Far Side whip everyone into shape. You just show up when and where she tells you to and concentrate on getting better.

  10. I'm so sorry you have to deal with this especially Far Guy. It's enough that he has this terrible disease much less to have to deal with this type of treatment. I think so many people forget that their salary depends on you. I fired a doctor once to her face. My mother had just died and I had not had time to grieve but I cried in her office when she asked me how things were. It had only been a couple days. She immediately wanted me to see a psychiatrist and put me on Prozac! I told her she was nuts and I would not be back! I would call the doctor and complain and tell him/them if they can't do better you will find someone else.

  11. That is disheartening - hang in there! There is a point when patience changes to "do what is best for you"! Hope things get better!

  13. I hope Far Guy's new health care provider will be more mindful of doing things the way they should be done and call to task those who do not follow procedure. Enjoy your weekend!

  14. So sorry to hear. We definitely need to be our own advocates, with everything not just health care. Truly hope things get figured out and infusion days go smoother for Far Guy.

  15. OH MY. We're just going through some similar type stuff. It's like everyone just goes through just enough motions to use up desk space

  16. I do know that medical workers are understaffed and overworked these days. I don't know if that is the case with your practitioners. I hope things smooth out for you and FG.
I am dealing with frustration too. I just found out my TAVR heart surgery will be delayed from Feb. 2nd to Feb. 15, maybe longer, because overnight beds are full of COVID patients.

  17. Boy, that is frustrating. We have felt the same thing with my 95 year old mother’s care as well as the doctors office where we go. They are tired, over worked, burnt out, and so under staffed. Caring about the patient, customer service, has gone out the window. I’m so sorry Far Guy is suffering.

  18. Oh boy! I understand perfectly, although my stuff isn't as serious as Far Guy's. I don't know what can be done either. No one seems to care anymore.
I waited 5 1/2 months to get into a new neurologist here. My appointment was finally Tuesday morning and he told me, "I don't know why you're here. I can't do anything for you." What?!!!! My neurologist in Spokane sure did plenty to help me and I need continuing care. Five and one half months wait, just to be seen for literally FIVE minutes and told to go away and not come back. He said my primary can refill my prescriptions for me. Nope. Nope. Nope. I have no idea what to do now.
No one seems to care at all anymore.
One more story. I do downloads for my pacemaker every three months. The cardiologist in Spokane sent me a letter the first week or so of January every year telling me the dates to do the downloads. I haven't heard anything from this one about it for 2022 so I called yesterday. I was told that they lost 1/3 of their staff because of the vaccine mandates and so the letters didn't go out. I will be called a day or so before my download is due. (I hope so.) Oh my gosh!
I'm trying to remain positive and keep the faith that God will work it all out and watch over me as He always has. At the same time, I feel like our country is going downhill really quickly right now. Nobody. Cares.
Whew! Sorry for using your blog to vent. I guess I was more upset by all of this than I thought I was. :-)
Take care and all our love to Far Guy.
    Blessings and hugs,
    Betsy

  19. This is just not right. Our medical system was already broken; now the added stresses are making things impossible for patients. Thinking of you both. Alana ramblinwitham.blogspot.com

  20. Oh. This is horrid! I am hoping the new Doctor will make a HUGE difference!! I agree with Sillygirl---You are the buyer!

  21. I keep hearing that many people are leaving their Healthcare jobs due to continued pressures from the pandemic. That sure leaves the patients in a bad place. I hope the new doctor will help to improve the situation for Far Guy! I'm keeping you both in my thoughts and prayers.

  22. That kind of stuff is hard to take when you have a miserable condition. I hope things turn around for the better.

  23. One can only hope that a new doctor will be more organized and efficient.

  24. I'm so sorry. It has to be so frustrating. I am praying the new doctor will help this situation. It is just so unfair to him.

  25. Hang in there, FarGuy!

I am truly upset by a doctor myself. Just had an infusion yesterday--basically new doctor I've seen once. Let's just say I'm really, really glad I decided to tell McCune I didn't want to see Kobrossy anymore and why--and I am even more upset by Kobrossy. Leah was with and we found out things about immunotherapy we were never, ever told. And they weren't exactly good. I'll blog about it on Monday.

I really hope your new doctor is a good one and things start to turn around for you and be more positive. You are in my thoughts often. :)

  26. I hear you and understand the frustrations. I'm so sorry that you guys have to deal with it and I get FG's reaction.
I sure hope the infusions get back on schedule immediately.

  27. Oh so sorry to hear about all the problems with far guy's infusion and appointments. Sounds like a mess. Encourage him to stay the course and hopefully things will get better! Saying a prayer for far guy and you too!

  28. Sometimes I feel I am just information on a computer screen and the doctor really is not looking at me or understanding me. Changing my meds and saying I will see you in two months means it is an unobserved treatment. I cant believe they would dare change things without permission. I hope things get straighten out for Far Guy.
