The Christmas Cards keep finding us. Missouri, Iowa, Indiana and Minnesota.
My Joy box is getting full!
Far Guy's Infusion went just fine...it was a one stick day!! He rested in the afternoon and we took supper down to him and ate at the game table downstairs with him. Roasted chicken, potatoes, corn, carrots and a fruit salad....okay... well maybe not exactly a salad...snickers candy bars, green apples and cool whip.
I had Book Club in the afternoon.
We read The Children's Blizzard, it happened on January 12, 1888. Many children were caught in the blizzard at school and attempted to go home. It is based on a true story. I give it an 8 out of 10 stars...it was a little long on the history of The Signal Corps...they were in charge of weather predictions...which was very political at that time.
Far Guy may be a tad bit better, he had a bacterial lung infection, he sees his Doctor again on Monday.
Far Side
Your dinner sounded wonderful especially the Snicker Salad! Is Far Guy's appetite good? I hope he is recovering faster now that he is home. One stick? Will miracles never cease! That's great news...I hope it continues. Love your cards and I have been wanting to read that book for awhile now. Have a great day and stay warm and cozy!
ReplyDeleteSo glad to hear that Far Guy is back home and doing well and that he had a "one-stick" infusion. Praying for a speedy recovery for him. Sounds like his new "digs" are going great. Stay safe and warm.
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear it was a one stick day! That is a real accomplishment by them, and much better for FG.
ReplyDeleteNow that's my kind of salad! And let's celebrate the one stick day! Those bacterial infections can be dangerous. So glad he is on the upswing.
ReplyDeleteI am reminded of the Armistice Day Blizzard on 7 November 1940 that killed so many people.
ReplyDeleteWishing Far Guy a speedy recovery. Hooray for a one stick day, especially since he was used as a pin cushion at the hospital.
ReplyDeleteI chuckled at the description of the fruit salad. My daughter tells me there is a TikTok personality that features various salads from Minnesota. I wonder if this one made the list.
So glad Far Guy is home, Connie. Recuperation always goes better & faster there! May he get to feeling 100% very soon. It sounds like he's got a perfect setup downstairs. ~Andrea xoxoxo
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad Far Guy went to the hospital to get the treatments he needed for that infection AND that it was a one stick day! Miracle of Miracles! He's been through enough lately to have to be poked more.
ReplyDeleteI love snickers salad. Half dessert, half fruit salad. You can't go wrong. When I first heard of it I thought yuck! That was until I tasted it. I've made it for many potlucks and it's always a HUGE hit.
So many pretty cards. I hope mine found you. If you haven't gotten it yet, I think it's a goner since it was mailed towards the end of November!
Enjoy your day Connie.
Blessings,
Betsy
It's good to hear of slight improvements for FG. I'm sure he is really tired of not feeling good. Stay warm up there!!
ReplyDeleteHappy to hear they know what was wrong with Far Guy - stay warm! There is a heat wave coming!
ReplyDeleteYay for a one stick day for Far Guy! It is wonderful that you guys have such a nice set up for him! A bacterial lung infection can take a little time and a lot of antibiotics. I'm hoping those IV antibiotics in the hospital did their job for him. You take good care of yourself too!
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like a book I'd like to read. I'll have to look it up.
ReplyDeleteGlad FG is home and getting great food. I want to come and have a meal there!
Basically I stink at planning meals and you made me hungry!
Some good news here
ReplyDeleteA one stick day--hurray! I hope FarGuy feels better and better.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a good supper. The book for book club sounds so sad.
Have a great weekend! :)
Childrens' blizzard sounds interesting.
ReplyDeleteSalad/desert sounds really good. I could only eat the apples. Far Guy gets some good time to recoup. I hope he keeps feeling better each day.
ReplyDeleteSo you call that a :salad" huh. :-)
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you know what was afflicting FG and that the treatment is working.
I think I'd enjoy that "salad".
ReplyDeleteThat book sounds interesting. I like that its based on a true story.
Yeah for one stick! I tried to donate blood once in the Army. The try to stick you once. If they fail, you get a badge and they do not attempt again. How nice of them!
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear that far guy is getting a little better. So you keep getting Christmas cards....lucky you! Your dinner downstairs sounds yummy...including the fruit salad!!! Take good care and stay warm!
ReplyDeleteI guess having mail forwarded does work - eventually! I'm glad Far Guy is a little better. Would be happier if he was a LOT better, but I guess baby steps are OK too.
ReplyDeleteStill sending lots and lots of prayers your way!
ReplyDeleteHey, I read that one! I’ve read a couple others on the same subject, too. We have gotten more cards after Christmas than before. Can’t blame the post office either as most of them were postmarked after. I love them anyway.
ReplyDeleteI have that book, got it many years ago to add to my family history shelves because two children who died were shirttail cousins to some of my ancestors. // I would send you a card but, like most people, I pretty much only have two other blogger's addresses. You will have to get a bigger box for more joy someday I bet! :)
ReplyDeleteGlad Far Guy is improving, and the infusion went smoothly this time around. That book is on my to-read list.
