Most of the 2021 Christmas Ornaments have been delivered.
Far Guy did all the carving this year. ( My thumb was just not up to wood carving) I did some touch up work and sanded them all in preparation for painting.
Meet the 2021 Gnomes!
Welcome to the dining room workshop. The peanut butter jar stand should be patented, it works so well! I can work on 12 carvings at once.
The carvings this year are various sizes, shapes and colors. There is ONLY one orange Gnome and that goes to special friends in Wyoming.
Some have beards and some have smiles. Each one is unique and one of a kind. I used acrylic paint, sanded some paint off and did a brown wash and then added a sparkly glaze to the Gnome hats.
We are very pleased with them and hope that everyone on our list enjoys them. 110 carvings were made. It is truly a labor of love.

Oh, your ornaments this year are wonderful. They always are, but this year the variation makes them more whimsical. Well done.

No but that would be an idea! One of my nieces only puts our ornaments on the tree...she has three children so it is a full tree:)
DeleteOhhh, you absolutely should have a tree/display with all of your wooden ornaments!! Maybe Far Guy could even make the tree/display out of wood?!! I am sure he needs another project ;) I just put my request in with my hubby for a homemade horseshoe Christmas tree for the barn. Not the flat kind either. Yep, I am a trouble maker 😬

ReplyDeleteOh my goodness! I am gnome crazy this year and may try to make some little pinecone gnomes. But these are gorgeous! Very nicely made and every one has a little story to tell, I bet! I am so in love with these! Better check my pockets when I leave...if I come for a visit! heehee! Hugs!

ReplyDeleteSo cute! To save your thumb, you could used a Dremel tool. But... Noise.. Dust... And you do need a variety of attachments to work properly and efficiently. But when you have a good set up, the chips really fly!
ReplyDeleteStill, there is something very satisfying in using a knife ( or chisel, for larger carvings) and time seems to melt away. At leas you have destinations for all of them. I hated carving things only to have them cluster my shelves with no home.
